☀️ Learning about Sun Safety in the Baby Room ☀️

Recently, our older babies enjoyed exploring sun safety through a hands-on, interactive activity using our baby dolls and sun safety resources.

The practitioner encouraged the children to think about what the babies might need to stay safe in the sunshine, asking simple questions such as, "what does the baby need to drink?" and "what should the baby wear?"

The children searched for the matching flashcards to answer the questions, finding items such as water, sun cream, hats, lightweight clothing, shade and even an ice cream to help keep cool.

The children loved pretending to care for the baby dolls by putting hats on them, ‘applying’sun cream with our empty sun cream bottles, and dressing them appropriately for sunny weather. They were also eager to copy what they had learned by pretending to apply sun cream to themselves and putting on hats too!

🌟 Our Out of School Club Has Been Buzzing with Transition Talk! 🌟

This week, our club has been full of excited conversations as the children have shared all about their Transition Days!

With children aged 5 to 11 from five different schools, we've heard every emotion imaginable - excitement about new teachers and classrooms, nerves about moving up, worries about being separated from friends, and even the big leap from primary to secondary school.

The highlight for us has been seeing how supportive our children have been of one another. They have listened, reassured, encouraged and reminded each other that it's okay to feel excited, nervous, happy or even a little worried. Watching children of different ages, schools and backgrounds come together to build each other's confidence has made us incredibly proud.

Moments like these remind us that our Out of School Club is so much more than childcare - it's a place where friendships grow, confidence flourishes, and children know they'll always have someone in their corner.

Well done to every single one of our amazing children. We know you'll all shine in your new classes and schools! 🌈💙

Earlier this week, in our Tweenie Room, we explored the wonderful world of emotions! 💛

The children enjoyed looking at themselves in mirrors as they talked about different facial expressions and how they change when we feel happy, sad, excited, surprised, or worried. We also explored feelings cards together, helping to recognise and name different emotions, before settling down to read some lovely books all about feelings.

Activities like these support children's emotional development by encouraging self-awareness, empathy, and communication in a fun and engaging way.

We're so proud of how confidently our little learners shared their thoughts and expressions today! 😊

🌿Dinosaur Swamp🌿

This morning we have enjoyed exploring a dinosaur swamp! The babies used their hands to splash in the murky waters, grasp and move the dinosaurs and feel the textures of the different foliage in the tray.

Child E picked up the dinosaurs in each hand and banged them into the tray to create big splashes, shouting, "stomp, stomp, stomp!" Over and over again.

Child R: "splash, splash!"

Out of School

This week some of the children have been on a trip, with their school, to a farm.

On their return they were very excited to talk about all of the animals that they had seen.

They said that they were asked to sit around a table and the people from the farm put out some fake grass then brought out some little animals for them to touch and hold.

They were allowed to hold rabbits, chicks and guinea pigs. Then there were goats running all around them. They said they had a really good time.

On their return they decided to make a farm out of construction items and then got the animals out.

As it is coming to the end of term and we get ready to say goodbye to some of our friends. We have had lots of fun taking part in some party games, dancing and singing, and a good darts competition (using velcro balls). The children demonstrated brilliant listening and attention skills, and impressive sharing skills.

We will be sad to say goodbye but the children have had lots of fun and laughs celebrating with each other.

We wish everyone all the best for their future.

Goodbye and good luck class of 2026
