Today's crew members had a fab time exploring Wentworth Gardens! We enjoyed the park, testing our physical skills and building strength and coordination. We also enjoyed the National Trusts "Summer Of Play" which meant we got to have a go at football, rounders, cricket, beanbag toss, tennis and more! This environment offered brilliant opportunities for risk assessment and decision-making as they chose their own routes and challenges. Playing alongside friends in such an open, natural space really supports their confidence and independence—what a lovely day of active learning! 🌳☀️

Our crew members had a wonderful adventure at the National Coal Mining Museum today! The sand play area was of course a big hit, where they spent time digging, scooping, and creating patterns in the sand - brilliant for developing fine motor skills and understanding cause and effect.

The train ride was very exciting! the children watched eagerly as the scenery passed by, pointing out things that caught their attention along the way. Their enthusiasm was absolutely infectious and they enjoyed talking to the conductor.

Whilst the littles played more, the older crew members enjoyed a science show where they showed us the effects of methane gases and there was even a bit of audience participation!

The day rounded off beautifully with a special treat of ice-cream, which the kids thoroughly enjoyed. It was a lovely day filled with lots of outdoor learning, and plenty of fun! 🪣🪏

The rule at The Corner is: If you're spending the your birthday day here, we throw you a birthday party (be that adults or children!) today was my own little boys birthday so we had a day filled with lots of games! We played pass the parcel, musical statues, musical bumps, quizzes, corners, pin the tail on the donkey, what time is it mister wolf and lots of dancing! We had a party picnic and buns as an afternoon snack!

Inspired by our seaside visit yesterday, this morning we got super messy with an ice-cream tuff tray! We scooped the cream up, crunched the cornflakes, put sprinkles on top, and there may or may not have been a little tasting going on 🤣 we counted scoops and spoke about the sound the cornflakes made as we crushed the flakes. as the cornflakes got more mushy, the kids realised they could mould it and successfully made "ice-cream castles" from the cone moulds! 🍦

🫧 Bubbles bubbles everywhere! 🫧
Today was all about bubbles! We had a range of different apparatus to make lots of bubbles. We talked about the different shapes and sizes and tried to count how many we made. Then we tasked the children to find other things in the garden that could make bubbles too! They found mashers, small hoops and more that all worked!

We stumbled upon Rivelin Valley Water Park last year and absolutely loved it so of course we had to kick the summer off ...

We stumbled upon Rivelin Valley Water Park last year and absolutely loved it so of course we had to kick the summer off with a return visit! River, park, splash pad, paddling pool and all for free! The kids have had a blast 💧⛲
