Curious about Dire Moon Academy? This special Taster Session Workshop is a chance for children (and parents) to step inside the world of Dire Moon and experience what the full term will offer.

During this session, families will be introduced to all six themed lessons that take place across the term, brought to life through immersive activities, creative challenges, storytelling, games, and a touch of magic ✨

Children will explore the atmosphere, structure, and imaginative spirit of Dire Moon Academy, while parents can see how sessions are run, meet the adults involved, and decide whether it’s the right fit for their family.

Step into the magical world of Dire Moon Academy, where trainee witches and wizards aged 4–16 can explore magic, creativity, and teamwork through hands-on activities in a magical school-like environment.

This taster session is a chance for children to experience a sample of the workshops and see if they enjoy the magic. Parents are welcome to join and see how the session runs, meet the adults involved, and get a feel for what a full term would be like.

The term is a drop-off workshop. For the taster session workshop only, children under 10 will need to be accompanied by an adult.

You are welcome to bring your own lunch/snacks.

Step into the world of Dire Moon Academy, where little witches and wizards aged 4–16 explore magic and imagination through enchanting workshops, now running fortnightly on Saturdays.

The workshops include:

At Dire Moon Academy, children:
✨ Work independently and in groups
✨ Take on their own job role/title
✨ Solve challenges, play games, and use their imagination
✨ Enjoy crafting, creative activities, and outdoor exploration
✨ Participate in mixed-age groups, where older children learn to encourage and support younger children, and younger children benefit from the guidance of older peers
✨ Experience storytelling, problem-solving, and magic

All children who sign up will receive their very own Dire Moon Academy robe.

Workshops will run fortnightly – dates to be confirmed.

Currently running classes for home-educated children, this magical six-session term will take your little witch or wizard on an unforgettable journey: Enrolment Day, Potions Class, Mystical Creatures, Charms Class, Herbology, and Wizarding Trials.

Over the term, children will explore spells, brew potions, discover magical creatures, plant enchanted herbs, and take on thrilling house competitions, all while developing independence, teamwork, creativity, and the confidence to collaborate with children of all ages.

By the end of the term, every young wizard and witch will have learned valuable skills, made magical creations to take home, and experienced the wonder of a world full of enchantment.

⚡ Wizarding Trials ⚡

The term culminates in the Wizarding Trials — a series of thrilling challenges designed to test teamwork, quick wits, courage, and magical skill.
Working together in their houses, young witches and wizards will take on fun problem-solving games and energetic physical trials, earning points as they go. Every challenge is carefully designed so each child can contribute, shine, and support their housemates.
Fast-paced, playful, and full of surprises, the Wizarding Trials bring everything together in one final, unforgettable session — ending the term with excitement, laughter, and a little friendly competition as one house claims victory.

🌿 Herbology Class 🌿

In Herbology class, young witches and wizards will step outside and slow down, learning to notice the quiet magic growing all around them.

Children will explore the magical properties of spring herbs and flowers through hands-on planting, simple experiments, and observing nature up close. They’ll discover how herbs are used in the magical world and the meanings and intentions often associated with different plants.

This lesson is about curiosity and connection — getting hands into the soil, paying attention to small details, and experiencing nature in a calm, imaginative way.

💫Step into Charms Class, where magic comes alive!💫

Children will dream up their very own spells and craft charms inspired by luck, protection, confidence, and joy. Each child will bring their imagination to life and create something truly unique.

Throughout the day, children will work together in their houses, exploring language, poetry, and storytelling to shape the meaning behind their spells and charms. They’ll reflect on their own feelings of confidence, joy, luck, or protection, and use these ideas to make their creations truly personal.

A day full of creativity, teamwork, and enchanting discovery, where every child leaves with a magical treasure of their own making!

This session is where curiosity runs wild.

Children will venture into the world of mystical creatures — exploring, investigating, and getting hands-on as they uncover hidden secrets and clues inspired by magical beings.

There’ll be outdoor exploring, creative crafting, and plenty of imagination as the children work together in their houses to bring their discoveries to life. Think muddy fingers, whispered theories, and the kind of excitement that happens when learning feels like an adventure.

In Potions Class, our young witches and wizards step into a world of mysterious brews and bubbling elixirs! Children will experiment with colours, scents, and safe, edible mixtures to create their very own magical potions.

From the moment the cauldrons bubble to the final magical sips, the day is full of creativity, curiosity, and teamwork. Children will collaborate with their housemates, uncover new magical tricks, and experience the thrill of making something entirely their own.
