During the last few weeks of the summer term the children spent a lot of time playing outside. Those that did stay indoors made a variety of object d'art and quite a lot of baking!

On a personal note, I have thoroughly enjoyed looking after all the children in my care for the past 24 years and it is with great sadness that I am now closing the doors of the Lansdown Before and After School Club. I owe great thanks to Bob who has worked tirelessly (and without pay) as my registered assistant for many years now.

Over the last few weeks the children have baked savoury scones, flapjacks, Danish Pastries and Anzac biscuits. They have also created flying insect gliders, decorative boxes, Plaster of Paris models and bag-danglers.

The children have been busy over the last few months creating a plethora of art work to celebrate the various festivals - Chinese New Year, Valentines Day, Mothering Sunday and Easter to name a few. They've also done lots of tasty baking!

In January we kept warm by doing lots of baking. The children have made; Cherry Kiss Biscuits, Cocoa Crispy Cakes, Cheese & Chive Bread and Gingerbread. They also created some jungle animal 'bag danglers', some wooden flowers, some 'dotty' animal art work and some 'scratch art' pet fridge magnets.

I'm sure it will come as no surprise if I tell you that the children have been busy creating lots of Christmas decorations this month! We've made sand art nativity scenes, glass painted bag danglers and photo frames, Xmas trees decorations and sweetie boxes, paper chains, scratch art scenes and Christmas drinks coasters. Didn't they do well?

The baking activities are always popular once the nights draw in. This month the children made bread rolls, Anzac biscuits, Cocoa crispy cakes and Pesto Palmiers. On other days the children made 'jungle themed' scratch art magnets and Viking masks, decorated ceramic vases and leaves, painted wooden artefacts and created parrot gliders.

During October the children made 'woodland creature' window decorations, baked Moon Rocks, Apple Turnovers and Pesto Palmiers and made lots of scary Halloween decorations!

This month the children have been creating crafts from sea shells, amongst other things. They painted some of the larger shells to make trinket dishes and used the smaller shells to make bag-danglers. We also made windmills, robot biff-baffs, glass painted fairies, wooden sewing frames and baked some mini pizzas and flapjacks.

For the last few weeks of the summer term I let the children choose their favourite activities, so we ended up with an eclectic mix. We made glass painting sea-side themed sun catchers, some scratch-art 'summer' fridge magnets, a variety of sand-art pictures, cocoa-crispie cakes and some bread roll creations but most importantly, we all had fun!

In June the children celebrated Father's day by making cards, certificates and decorations. The also created wooden jungle animals, mini-beast window decorations, some summer themed sun catchers and a sea horse head dress. In the kitchen the children baked Cherry Kisses, Danish Pastries and Quick Cheese and Chive Bread.

It may have been raining outside but during the month of May we've been busy inside crafting and baking. The children have made kaleidoscopes, wooden jigsaws, flower window decorations, insect finger puppets, 'magic' carpets, animal masks, used 'melt beads' and decorated some fabric purses. In the kitchen they baked Tiffin Cakes, Summer Fruit Crumbles, Anzac Biscuits and Wholemeal Bread Rolls

We began the term by celebrating our patron, St George’s Day and making some ‘England’ Pom Pom Pals. The children also made some flower notebooks, baked some cheese and chive savoury bread. This week they decorated some beautiful bangles and pendants with glass paint, made some mosaic sunflower coasters and baked some Danish Pastries. Quote of the week: “Making these (Danish Pastries) is a bit like Origami but with pastry instead of paper’. By my lovely Year 1 from AAA
