✨ Our Wednesday sculptors are exhibiting — and this weekend, you’re invited to join in!
📍 The West Barn, beside the historic Tithe Barn, Bradford on Avon
🗓️ Saturday 19th & Sunday 20th September, 9am–5pm
Come and see a wonderful collection of figurative sculpture, then roll up your sleeves and try it yourself. Our freer drop-in sculpting workshop runs 12–4pm both days — everything’s provided, and you’ll leave with your own hand-made piece in air-dry clay. Small donation welcome for materials.

No experience needed — just come along, have a go.

We are often looking further life models for our sculpture classes in Bath. Models pose for five weeks in a rise abc over these weeks students produce a clay sculpture through observation of the model. Our models keep the same pose and take breaks when they need. Without our models we would be lost. The human form is endlessly inspiring and so tricky to portray and we love this challenge. Our classes are really exercices in observation and the longer people come, the better they get at seeing. Please get in touch if you are a life model or would like to give it a try. Send me a message.

We are looking for models for models for our art classes, both clothed and unclothed. Classes are held at Bath Artists Studios in central Bath. Models are paid and often need to commit meed to a block of weekly sessions. You need to be able to keep still so students can study you and create a likeness of you in clay. Please DM me with good photos of yourself and your availability in September. Mostly models have experience, but we do also use models with no previous experience. Please send me a message if you are interested.

Our weekend workshop is under way. So impressed with what our students have produced in only one day. They will be producing a head of Lara in 2/3 life size. These have been sketched out with the aid of measurements taken from our model. Tomorrow students will be taught by Sue Larner and will be only working by eye. Now with gave a good start it’s time to really study our model. So fortunate to have Lara back with us this weekend. Amazing model,

Students working on a clay figure in 1/3 life size. Working directly from our model, Alys, starting off with measurements and then sculpting by eye. We are so lucky to have amazing models who come to work for us and hold fantastic poses, and we are lucky to have a big well equipped school room at Bath Artists Studios. There are 15 weekly classes during term time as well as weekend workshops like this one. The school room is used by artists to run classes in painting, life sculpture and life drawing and we have groups who meet to share a model. In other spaces at the studios artists teach stained glass, ceramics and pottery. Check out BAS’ website to see all the classes on offer. All our classes may come to an end in December this year when we loose our building. We hope the council will kindly rehouse us on Dartmouth Avenue in Bath
