Just a reminder that preschool have inset days on the 2nd, 3rd and 4th September. We are only open for wraparound care on those days (breakfast and afterschool club).

Preschool reopens on Monday 7th September 😊

We are so happy to offer childcare to any reception children whilst they are doing half days and settling into school!

The summer holidays have officially commenced! As the academic year comes to an end, we just want to thank you all for all our lovely gifts, cards, flowers, cakes and kind words we've received over the past fortnight. They are so appreciated ❤️

We wish our school leavers all the best in their new schools and we look forward to welcoming the children, returning and new, back in September!

Preschool reopens on the 7th September 2026. We are only open for wraparound care for WASPS and St Mary's the week before.

Reminder that we are OPEN next week (20th, 21st and 22nd July)

Today at preschool we spent the whole day out in our lovely garden! We mixed leaves, flowers and water in the mud kitchen. We raced cars and built a road to follow using large bricks. We made different shapes out of playdough. We washed colourful balls in the water and noticed how they floated on the surface. We gave the babies a bath in bubbly water and gave them different hairstyles. We climbed in the climbing frame, balanced on the wobbly bridge, swung on the swings and took turns pushing eachother back and forth. We went digging in the mud to see what treasures we could find. We watched the leaves and trees dancing in the wind. We sang songs, read stories and played music with tambourines, bells and maracas 🪇 We played with the balls, built ramps out of guttering and raced the balls down it guessing which colour would win. We also rode the bikes around the garden, navigating different obstacles and surfaces.

For snack this morning we had orange slices and breadsticks. This afternoon we had cucumber. We've also drank milk and lots of water!

Update regarding roadworks on Penn Hill Road from BANES Council

"We are writing to update you that the planned road closure to install a new zebra crossing on Penn Hill Road outside Weston Bowls Club has been rescheduled.

The road closure between the junction of Southlands and RUH Gate 3 is now expected to take place from 20 to 22 July (previously 15 to 17 July) because preparatory work to install the crossing has proved more complex than anticipated.

A further nighttime road closure on 27 July will also be required on this section of the road to complete the high-friction surfacing works. A signed diversion route will be in place while these works are carried out.

Please note that while access arrangements remain as previously communicated, the change to the road closure dates means that the overall works programme has been extended. The revised programme is as follows:

Phase 1: Temporary two-way traffic lights on Penn Hill Road from 29 June to 19 July

Phase 2: Road closure (no through-route) on Penn Hill Road from 20 to 22 July

Phase 3: Overnight road closure on 27 July (from approx. 7pm) on Penn Hill Road to apply high friction surfacing at the crossing. The road will be reopened by 7am on 28 July.

Signs on site will be updated to reflect the new dates."

Hi everyone! Apologies for the lack of daily updates over the past fortnight.

Recently we have been:
- keeping ourselves cool in the heat, learning why it's important to drink lots of water and wear suncream
- lots of exploring the garden and the world around us (bugs, flowers, trees, wind, airplane spotting)
- learning about different types of transport and also what the different colours on traffic lights mean. We made our own traffic lights and have been using these in our play
- riding bikes in the garden, practicing balance, learning about speed, slowing down and changing direction
- last week we had a mini sports day! The children made their own medals in the morning and then in the afternoon we all took part in different races around the garden. We had an obstacle course, balancing bean bags on heads, seeing how far we could throw bean bags and a bike race!
- lots of water play, mark making, role play kitchens
- we've played board games such as the 'shopping list' game and the 'incy wincy spider' game
- conversations about starting school, what the children might find in their new classrooms, which friends are going to the same school as them and what their teacher is called
- Yesterday and today we also had our preschool leavers parties! The children played games as a group like musical statues and pass the parcel and we had party food for snack. There was lots of dancing too!

Thursday 2nd July 2026

What have we done today?
- making cars out of cardboard
- Mark making
- lots of free flow play
- role play kitchen and hairdressers
- building towers
- swings, slides, climbing, running
- stories and singing in the garden
- cuddles with Cecily and Florrie
- printing with water and sponges
- looking at bugs, flowers and the world around us (the trees were dancing in the wind!)
- riding bikes and taking turns

For snacks we had toast and lots of fruit

Happy 1st July!

Today we spent most of the day in the garden! We did playdough outside with shape cutters - we noticed that the circle shape was the same as the bike and tractor wheels we took turns riding on! We worked as a team building tall towers and enjoyed water play in the mud kitchen. We enjoyed rolling the cars around the playground too and spotting more airplanes in the sky!

We also made our own steering wheels this by decorating paper plates. These were used in whole group imaginary play this afternoon! We all climbed aboard the "bus train" and sang lots of transport themed songs on our way to the 'beach'! When we arrived at the 'beach', we explored the seashells in the water and splashed in the sea! We looked at the shells through magnifying glasses to look closer at the shapes, patterns and colours. We also ordered them in size, counted how many we had collected and spoke about what animals we thought might have lived in the shells (snails, whales and dinosaurs were some of the children's suggestions!). When it was time to get the "bus train" back to preschool, we collected our shells in a bucket, climbed back on board the bus train, sang some more songs and got back just in time for snack!

For snack this morning we had marmite on toast, cucumber and blueberries. This afternoon we enjoyed some orange slices 😊

If you booked in for the last one that was cancelled, you can keep your current timeslot if that still suits.
