Mike Randall, Interim Head, is delighted to be taking part in the World Conference of Benedictine Educators (BENET 2026) which is taking place this week in the Melk Monastery in Austria.

"Education has been an integral element of Benedictine history and is still an important part of Benedictine life today. In our global culture, we need an international organization to promote this aspect of Benedictine life. To this end, I am establishing the International Commission on Benedictine Education." We are delighted to be featured in the latest issue of School House magazine. The article, "A question of Faith. Why are non-religious parents choosing Catholic schools for their children", addresses some interesting questions and highlights how an education at a school such as Downside can make such an impact on young people's lives.

Thank you to Camilla van Praagh and Bess Twiston Davies for bringing this conversation to life.

In recognition of the RSCM International Chorister Day this coming Sunday, we would love to take this opportunity to thank our Choristers for their incredible dedication and commitment to enriching our liturgical life here at Downside.

In Mass on Sunday, our Girls’ Chamber Choir will be joined by our Junior Schola. This is a wonderful opportunity for our younger singers, especially those new to Downside, to experience leading our music in Mass.

To see what they are singing on Sunday, and to view our other music for the remainder of this half term, please visit our website for our current music list.

This week, the pupil care home activity turned into a ‘Nail Bar’! The pupils offered their nail services to the residents, helping them to feel pampered and making their nails look amazing.

More importantly, the activity gave the pupils the opportunity to spend quality time with the residents, chatting, listening and sharing a few laughs together. What might seem like a simple activity became a wonderful opportunity to show kindness, care and friendship. The pupils thoroughly enjoyed serving the residents and it was lovely to see the smiles that their time and attention brought to everyone involved.
