Reception Get Hands-On with Exotic Creatures 🐍🪳🐌
We were delighted to welcome Benedict from ZooLab for an exciting educational visit to our Reception classes last week! 🐛
The children had the opportunity to meet a variety of fascinating animals up close and learn all about their habitats, behaviours and how to care for them responsibly. ❤️
This hands-on experience sparked lots of curiosity and the children learned so much while getting up close with the creatures.
A big thank you to ZooLab for such a wild and wonderful visit! 🙌

Kingswood Mums Hockey 🏑
Our fantastic Head of Hockey John Jackson has kickstarted his Kingswood Mums sessions for the summer, aimed to give our incredible mums who are staunch supporters on the sidelines a chance to have a go themselves - either starting hockey as a new sport or reigniting an old passion.
The sessions are a fantastic chance for our parents to build stronger connections and friendships with each other and is the latest offering available to Kingswood parents, giving them the opportunity to be active and socialise together. The Friends of Kingswood also host a range of events throughout the year and there is the Kingswood Book Club (next session tomorrow evening at the Lansdown Grove Hotel!) which parents are encouraged to join.
Running throughout the summer term, Mr. Jackson’s sessions will be every Monday from 6.30-7.30pm on the Lower Astro and are open to all! Interested mums can reach out to Mr. Jackson to join the sessions. There was a 26-strong group at the first session this week!

Learning Together: Year 6 Inspire Younger Years 🗺️📚
Our Reception and Year 1 children had the exciting opportunity to be taught by our amazing Year 6 pupils in sessions exploring different parts of the world – including China and Japan.
The classrooms were buzzing with energy as the younger children took part in a range of engaging activities from creating panda masks and flags to exploring maps, solving puzzles and learning about traditional foods and famous landmarks. A highlight was the lively ‘guess the animal’ game, which brought plenty of smiles and laughter!
It was wonderful to see our Year 6s stepping confidently into leadership roles, sharing their learning and showing kindness, patience and encouragement as they supported and inspired their younger peers. Not only did these sessions deepen learning but they also helped build confidence and positive relationships across the year groups. ❤️

Kingswood Hosts First Royal Institution Mathematics Masterclass Series 🧮
For over 40 years Kingswood students have travelled to Bath University to participate in Secondary Mathematics Masterclasses. Since January we are delighted to now be working in partnership with the Royal Institution to deliver our very own Masterclass series here at Kingswood.
The series welcomed local primary school pupils for a series of fun, hands‑on workshops that brought maths to life. We hosted students from Bath University to run the final session of the series, which was a great way to round off the series which has seen local teachers and University students collaborating to deliver engaging talks across a range of topics from Code Breaking and Strategy Games to Crop Circles and the History of Mathematics.
These Masterclasses have been supported by Kingswood students throughout and proved to be a worthwhile experience for the students volunteers who gave their time to help at the weekend sessions, as well as the participants who took part.
Mr Musto, Director of Partnerships at Kingswood, said, “Ri Masterclasses are nationally recognised for sparking curiosity and helping young people explore exciting mathematical ideas beyond the classroom. They’re designed to build confidence, nurture creativity and show that maths is for everyone. We’re proud to play our part in this inspiring UK‑wide programme and to support local children as they discover the joy, challenge and beauty of mathematics. Given the really positive feedback from both students and parents, we are looking forward to hosting many more at Kingswood in the years to come!”

Desert Springs Tour: Perfect Start to the Cricket Season for the 1st XI 🏏
During the first week of the Easter holidays the 1st XI Cricket squad travelled to Desert Springs in the south of Spain for their pre-season tour.
Blessed with outstanding weather throughout, the team were able to play five competitive matches against strong opposition over four days. These fixtures provided an excellent opportunity for all players to gain valuable match experience and sharpen their skills ahead of the upcoming season.
Just as important as the on-field performances were the activities away from Cricket as the squad made full use of the outstanding facilities at the Desert Springs Resort.
The tour was a great success, both in terms of cricketing development and team cohesion and it provided the perfect preparation ahead of this season. We look forward to seeing what the rest of the season holds for all the Kingswood cricket teams 🙌

Welcome Back! 👋☀️
We hope you had a fun and restful Easter. Over the break students enjoyed four exciting trips around the globe – from skiing in Les Menuires, France, to exploring Morocco on the French trip, delving into history in Berlin and a Cricket tour to Desert Springs, Spain.
Back on campus, our support staff and maintenance teams have been hard at work enhancing our facilities over the break. This Easter saw a revamp of the exam hall ahead of the upcoming exam season along with fresh updates across campus including improvements to the sports hall, classrooms, boarding houses and new pathways installed outside the Dixon Sixth Form Centre.
The summer term promises to be a busy and exciting one. Alongside GCSE and A Level exams for Year 11 and 13, students can look forward to plenty of outdoor education opportunities like the Duke of Edinburgh and Ten Tors expeditions, the Year 7–9 drama production of The Addams Family, plus concerts, sports days and more trips – including residentials for our Prep pupils.
Here’s to a fantastic final term of the 2025-26 school year!
