Kingswood School Kingswood School is an independent co-ed day and boarding school, educating pupils aged 9 months - 18 years. Welcoming boarders from Year 7.

We hope that our Kingswood page will be of interest to all who form part of the Kingswood Community - current parents and staff as well as former pupils, parents and staff and anyone with a connection to our amazing school. We look forward to sharing our news and events with you but also would welcome comments and contributions from our readers. European day of Languages💬

Today Kingswood celebrated European day of Languages with a variety of language based activities throughout the day.

Tutor groups took part in a European Day of Languages song quiz, identifying words in different languages whilst students jammed along to the music 🎶

The main event was the bake-off, judged by Head of MFL, Miss Evans. Cakes, cookies & pastries were laid out and displayed in our Dining Hall for all to see!

After a European-themed lunch in the Dining Hall, the quad saw our students running in to enjoy all the bakes from the bake off 🍰We raised nearly £200 for the sign language charity Makaton🎉

What an exciting day, full of learning and fun! 🤩

Last Friday, Year 9 took part in an exciting afternoon at the Upper Playing Fields, testing their team working skills.

Playing a number of outdoor activities, such as rounders, football and an inflatable assault course, the pupils had fun working together and being active! ⚽️

Our boarders community enjoyed a visit to Westonbirt Arboretum last weekend 🍂💚

Embracing the autumnal scenery, they took on a photography challenge - capturing the colours, moments and landscapes that caught their eye. Here are some of our favourite shots from the day! 📸

Weekends are always full of opportunities for our boarders to get outside, explore and make the most of their time together. Discovering Bath and surrounding areas, trying new hobbies and winding down from the school week, our activities programme helps students build friendships and create lasting memories.

Tree planting, Mini Masterchef and Laser Quest are just a few of the exciting activities our boarders have to look forward to over the next few weeks!

Year 7 Challenge Day🧠🎶🎯💪🏻

On Friday, Year 7 went off timetable for a jam packed day of challenges, teamwork and curiosity!

From intense games in the Sports Hall to a Q&A in the Chapel, the Year 7 pupils took it all in their stride.

Throughout the day the students rotated in small groups, participating in a range of subjects across the school to help familiarise themselves with the new setting and departments.

In the afternoon, the year congregated in the chapel for a Q&A- having the freedom to ask the Senior Leadership Team any questions they desired! From “Whats the best thing about being a teacher?”, to “What’s your favourite meal?”, the Senior Leadership Team answered the questions honestly, and had a laugh whilst doing so.

The fun-filled day ended with a group sing-a-long to “You’ve Got a Friend” by Carole King, which holds a message we hope our Kingswoodians carry with them throughout their years here.

Join our hosts Aiden and Melisa (Year 13) as they take you behind the scenes of our annual House Performance competition! 🎶

House Performance is about teamwork, spirit and togetherness. It’s an occasion that brings out the very best of Kingswood, with all pupils from Years 9 and 13
supporting each other and having fun, no matter which house they represent.

For our Year 13s, it’s a fantastic opportunity to put their leadership skills into action. And as our Year 9s settle into their new senior houses, it gives them the opportunity to build friendships and feel more connected.

From rehearsals to the final show, House Performance is a brilliant reminder that, whichever house we represent, we’re all part of the same Kingswood community🏠

A huge well done to all of our students across the six senior houses, and the wider boarding community that came out in force to support! You showed passion, teamwork & dedication, and made the evening one to remember ✨

Kingswood recognised as ‘Very Good’ value by The Daily Telegraph! 🏆

We’re delighted to share that Kingswood has been recognised as ‘Very Good’ value by The Daily Telegraph, the highest category in its latest analysis of independent schools.
The Best Value assessment considers a range of factors, including academic results, facilities and fees across GCSE and A-level.

Our Principal, Mr Gordon-Brown, commented:

Reception Get Hands-On with Exotic Creatures 🐍🪳🐌

We were delighted to welcome Benedict from ZooLab for an exciting educational visit to our Reception classes last week! 🐛

The children had the opportunity to meet a variety of fascinating animals up close and learn all about their habitats, behaviours and how to care for them responsibly. ❤️

This hands-on experience sparked lots of curiosity and the children learned so much while getting up close with the creatures.

A big thank you to ZooLab for such a wild and wonderful visit! 🙌
