Eco Prior has been awarded an Eco-Schools Green Flag with Distinction! 🌱
Eco Prior is one of Prior Park College's many co-curricular clubs, dedicated to promoting sustainability and driving environmental initiatives across the school.
This year, students worked through the Eco-Schools seven-step framework, exploring how we can make a positive difference to the environment - both as a school and in our everyday lives.
The students chose to focus on biodiversity, our school grounds and waste.
🌳 Biodiversity: Students learnt about the vital role tropical rainforests play in protecting the planet’s biodiversity and helping to slow climate change. They spoke with the charity Rainforest Concern to learn more, before sharing what we had discovered in a whole-school assembly.
🌼 School grounds: Students supported our gardening team in keeping parts of the school grounds wild throughout spring and summer, helping to create habitats and encourage pollinators and insect life. They shared updates and ideas through our monthly newsletter, The Eco Echo.
♻️ Waste: Eco-Prior continued to support the school’s recycling rota, helping students make a positive difference to their local environment.
A huge well done to Barnaby, Reuben, Charli and Nuria, who worked incredibly hard to put together the application. Their efforts have been rewarded with Distinction-level accreditation for the school this academic year! 🌍💚
