I was out today with Isa Richter’s ‘Young Explorers’ holiday day, helping her as her assistant. Lovely to be out again with kids on an Explorer-type day. There’s no news about Swainswick Explorers at the moment, except we are inactive.

Friday 11th August Explorer Day
We set off on a bright hot sunny day, aiming for the river. We walked past the oak tree, had many snacks and attempted to scale its branches. The kids took the 'Freddie Ferry' to island camp to splash around.

Tuesday 8th August Explorer Day Younger Group
Rainy, soggy, beautiful walk through the valley sheltering under an oak tree and spotting a buzzard fly overhead. We went splashing in the stream at the reservoir and set up the camp with ropes to climb, an awesome rope swing and mud, mud, mud! The creation of pompoms led to a game of pompoms vs aliens.

Explorer Day Tuesday 8th August
We trekked along the lane in the rain. The valley below was lush and green as we ate our blackberries. We climbed up a big hill to camp, then rested and played in the woods.

Tuesday 8th August Explorer Day Older Group
The very wet day didn't dampen our spirits. We went on a long soaking journey to the bunkers where we sheltered for snacks before departing for Dreamland to make camp and do craft despite the weather.

Monday 7th August - Playground Hop
We had a very good day touring playgrounds - first we went to Victoria Park, then a quick stop at Green Park and then our favourite playground was Moorlands Sandpit playground. There's a water feature that circles the playground like a necklace. A lovely group of kids and we all enjoyed the Landrover.
