For just £1, students will get 3 wet sponges to throw at a teacher

Every £1 donated helps to:

The Girls' Day School Trust Royal High School Bath Alumnae GDST Alumnae

We were delighted to welcome Major Emily Lawson, who delivered a truly inspiring and thought‑provoking talk on the importance of collaboration and courage. ✨

Drawing on her experiences as a physiotherapist in the Armed Forces, she shared powerful insights into teamwork, leadership under pressure, and the resilience required to succeed in challenging environments. Her achievements include being awarded the 2025 Women in Defence UK Most Collaborative Award - a testament to her dedication and impact.

The session concluded with a lively and extended Q&A, as our girls were eager to ask questions and learn more about her journey. Their curiosity and enthusiasm made for a fantastic discussion, and it was clear just how much they were inspired by her story.

A huge thank you to Major Emily Lawson for taking the time to visit us and for encouraging our students to think boldly, work together, and lead with confidence.

We were delighted to welcome alumna Alison Cartwright, Chartered Mechanical Engineer and Operations Director at CNG Services, for a truly inspiring and insightful talk ✨

Alison spoke candidly about her career journey, sharing the challenges and achievements she has experienced while building a successful path in engineering and the biomethane industry. She reflected on what it means to be a pioneer in a field that has traditionally been dominated by men, while also highlighting the exciting shift towards greater diversity and inclusion across the industry.

Her message was both empowering and encouraging, reminding our students that change is happening - and that there is a place for everyone in STEM. Thank you, Alison, for your honesty, inspiration and for paving the way for future generations 🙌

We were delighted to welcome back alumna Danielle Davis, founder of Soulful Skate, for a truly inspiring and memorable session ✨

Danielle shared her journey of building her own business from the ground up, speaking openly about the challenges she faced and the passion that drove her forward. Through Soulful Skate, she has created a powerful platform to teach and inspire others, using skateboarding not only as a sport but as a way to build confidence, resilience, and community. Hearing how this path has positively transformed her own life was incredibly motivating for our students.

The session concluded with a thoughtful Q&A, where students had the opportunity to ask questions about entrepreneurship, following your passions, and overcoming obstacles.

To top it all off, students were then invited to have a go on the skateboard themselves!

The Girls' Day School Trust Soulful Skate Co. GDST Alumnae Royal High School Bath Alumnae

We were delighted to welcome Zhenya Shkil from The Friends of Oleksandriya for a very insightful talk

Drawing on her own experience, she spoke about the importance of resilience and adaptability in today’s world. Through her work with The Friends of Oleksandriya, she has helped raise significant funds (including large concerts at Bath Abbey) to send humanitarian aid and medical supplies to Ukraine.

The session concluded with a Q&A, giving students the opportunity to ask thoughtful questions.
