Maddy our Artist in Residence had a stall at the annual school Christmas Fair today. She was selling a lovely range of works including monoprints, paintings and cards.

The past term our second formers have been working on some beautiful paintings inspired by Impressionism! Scroll to see what they’ve been doing - they’re nearly completed!

In the past few weeks our first formers have been working towards their final pieces for the term. Inspired by the illustrator Mark Hearld, these colourful pieces will be turned into concertinas over the next couple of weeks!

The L6 Art and 6th form Art History students travelled to London yesterday on a school trip. Both groups visited the Making Modernism exhibition at the Royal Academy, the Lucien Freud exhibition at the National gallery as well as the general collection at the Courtauld Gallery. The Art History students also took a detour to visit Rodin's Burghers of Calais!

Our L6 enjoyed using the abbey as inspiration for their Architecture projects. They took photos and drew directly from the space. Some of these photos were then developed further in the style of their chosen artist, like the one posted here by Maya.

During Mondays Ceramics activity Henry 4th Form has been working on a beautiful pot adorned with a stylish dragon this term. It will be glazed next and then we will post a picture of the final piece. Fingers crossed all goes well in the firing.

The 1st Form have been busy this term in Art making these fantastic sculptural bird collages, inspired by the work of artist Mark Hearld. They made their own collage papers as well.

Pupils enjoyed experimenting with wet felting techniques during their textiles activity this week

The Advent Wreath was created by our Artist in Residence Lydia Cottrell and has been installed in the Abbey Church.

3rd Form Art Club
Sakurako is working on her own project creating match box size images of koi swimming. The water effect is created using resin and it requires incredible skill to work with such detail on a small scale.

A Level Art 2022
Monty created a kinetic sculpture suspended in space on metal wires. His inspiration was architectural forms and the sculptural work of Alexander Calder and Constructivism.

Elinor has produced a striking series of three monoprints and ink drawings exploring the theme of anxiety. Elinor is going on to study an Art Foundation course.
