The Egg Assembly is officially two years old today!

So have fun waving flags and being with loved ones (seriously, enjoy, our team are!), but we’re also going to be smiling to ourselves about the incredible digital adventure we’re on.

Exactly 🎈one year ago🎈, with a world in crisis and an industry reeling, we poured ourselves a strong cup of tea and set about plans for launching the Egg Assembly.

How could we meet the needs of young artists both during, and after the pandemic, who believed that theatre wasn't for them or for whom theatre might be something more than actors on a wooden stage?

Our year of exploration has led us down some fascinating side-streets as we've imagined the role robotics, illusion, VR, animation, gaming, home-based lighting and sound design, interactive digital experiences and more might have in the theatre of tomorrow.

Thank you to all those courageous practitioners and participants that have gone on the journey with us. It's been a difficult year, but you've made us believe the what comes next might just be even more exciting than the world we left behind over a year ago.

It’s not what you say — Theatre Royal Bath It’s not what you say, it’s the way you say it: a playwriting workshop with Lava writer James Fritz, a guide to form, structure and content in playwriting.

Hamelin will be like nothing you’ve seen at the Egg before. A fast-paced love letter to cop dramas and cult classic folk horror. Aesthetically brilliant and crafted to provide laughs and thrills in equal measure. Devised by our young company and supported by an exceptional creative team of Egg Theatre veterans, Hamelin is loosely based on the Grimms’ tale of ‘the Pied Piper’ but trust me, this is not going to go how you think.
