🌼 Exploring Spring in Preschool! 🐞🐝
This week in preschool we’ve been learning all about Spring and the wonderful changes it brings! The children have enjoyed talking about the season, spotting signs of new life, and discovering which insects we might see as the weather gets warmer.
From busy bees to tiny ladybirds, the children have been curious, observant, and full of fantastic questions. We explored different insect habitats, looked closely at pictures and models, and even created some beautiful spring‑themed artwork.
It’s been a week full of learning, excitement, and lots of outdoor exploring! 🌱💛

🌟 Last Week at Preschool! 🌟
We had a fun and busy week exploring our theme of oral hygiene, learning how to keep our teeth healthy through hands‑on activities and play. 🦷✨
The children also discovered some of the key celebrations happening this month, including St Patrick’s Day 🇮🇪 and Ramadan 🌙. They enjoyed creative activities that helped them learn about different traditions and the ways people celebrate around the world.
It’s been a wonderful week of learning, exploring, and celebrating together! 💚

❄️This morning winter themed mark making tuff tray!❄️

Intent:
To support children’s early writing skills by encouraging mark making with a variety of tools, in line with the EYFS focus on Physical Development (fine motor control) and Literacy (developing early mark-making behaviours). The children were also encouraged to notice and copy patterns and shapes, linking to Mathematics (shape, space and pattern).

Implementation:
A foil surface was set up on the tuff tray to provide a sensory, reflective background. A range of mark-making tools with different shapes and patterns was offered, enabling the children to explore texture, form and movement. Visual examples of patterns were provided to support children in recognising and copying shapes, supporting the EYFS emphasis on learning through exploration and play.

Impact:
The children independently selected their tools and confidently created winter-inspired swirls and patterns. This developed their hand–eye coordination and fine motor strength, supported early writing readiness, and encouraged them to explore pattern and shape—directly aligning with EYFS developmental goals in Physical Development, Literacy, and Mathematics.
