🍅🌱 Growing, harvesting… and tasting!

Our children at College Town Montessori have been tending to the vegetables in our allotment, and this week it was finally time to enjoy the results of all their care! 💚

After spotting some ripe red tomatoes, the children harvested them alongside fresh basil before using knives and chopping boards to prepare their home-grown produce for snack time. 🍅🌿

Growing our own food gives children a wonderful hands-on understanding of where food comes from, what plants need to thrive and the importance of caring for the natural world – while building independence and practical life skills along the way.

After all, growing veggies helps build strong roots for children too! 🌱

🚜🐄 Learning about life on the farm at Kiddi Caru Caldecotte! 🌾

Farming has sparked lots of curiosity in our Rainbow and Stardust rooms, with the children chatting about what farmers do, the animals they care for and their own experiences of visiting farms. 💛

Our Stardust children explored a farm-themed tuff tray filled with different animals and textures, while our Pre-School children discovered where milk comes from with their very own hands-on ‘cow milking’ experience! 🐄🥛

With plenty of enthusiasm (and lots of questions!), these activities were a wonderful way to turn the children’s interests and conversations into meaningful learning through play.

🎈✨ What a fantastic weekend at the Bristol International Balloon Fiesta!

Our Bristol team had a brilliant time at the Fiesta last Friday and Saturday, meeting so many people from across the local community, handing out wristbands and spreading the word about our wonderful nurseries. 💛

A huge thank you to everyone who stopped by to say hello – it was lovely to meet you!

We loved being part of such an iconic Bristol event and seeing the skies filled with balloons along the way. 🎈

🌍💛 Learning about the world while supporting others

Our Stars and preschool children at Kiddi Caru Bradley Stoke have been learning all about Kenya as part of our collection of clothes and blankets for the Littlewood Creek Community Shelter, supporting mothers and children in Kenya.

The children explored aspects of Kenyan culture, including wildlife, transport, homes, language and clothing, before taking their learning into some wonderful creative experiences. 🎨

They used clay to create pots inspired by traditional Kenyan designs, developing their fine motor skills through shaping and sensory exploration. They also carefully painted pasta, experimenting with colour mixing and showing fantastic concentration along the way.

It’s been a lovely opportunity to encourage curiosity about the wider world, creativity and kindness towards others. We look forward to sharing more about the children’s contributions as they make their way to Kenya. 💚

Each month, West Finchley Day Nursery welcomes families into the nursery for our Stay and Play sessions. 🌟

At Kiddi Caru Leighton Buzzard, we’ve introduced our new Grab & Go Snack for families – sharing some of the tasty favourites our children enjoy from our nursery menus.

This month, our lovely Chef has prepared Carrot & Oat Bars for families to try on their way to work, along with the recipe so they can recreate them together at home. 👩‍🍳✨

It’s a simple way to share a little more of nursery life with our families while celebrating the nutritious food our children enjoy throughout their day.

🏖️☀️ Bringing the beach to Kiddi Caru Bradley Stoke!

After lots of conversations about holidays and fun-filled weekends by the seaside, our Pre-School and Stars children decided to recreate the experience at nursery – by building their very own beach! 🌊🐚

Inspired by their current fascination with tipping, pouring and transporting, the children explored moving and manipulating different resources as they brought their ideas to life.

By following the children’s interests and experiences from home, a simple idea became an exciting opportunity for imaginative play, problem-solving, communication and hands-on learning. 💛

This year, we said a very special goodbye to 11 school leavers at Dicky Birds Brighton Road. Some have been part of our nursery family since they were babies, making it incredibly special to see them grow into confident, independent little people who are excited for big school. ✨

To celebrate, the children proudly sang songs before receiving their graduation certificates and their very own portraits in their gowns, while families joined us to mark this wonderful milestone. 🎉

We’re so proud of every one of our graduates and can’t wait to see where their next adventure takes them. Good luck at big school! 🌟
