๐ฑ๐ฅ Growing, learning and exploring at Kiddi Caru Hitchin! ๐ฅฌ๐ฑ
As part of our Sow and Grow Programme, the children have been busy developing our vegetable patch and planting new seeds ready for the growing season. ๐ฟ
Over the coming weeks, the children will help care for the patch by watering the vegetables, observing changes and tracking their growth from tiny seeds to thriving plants. This hands-on experience helps children develop an understanding of nature, life cycles and where food comes from, while encouraging curiosity, responsibility and a love of the outdoors. โ๏ธ
We can't wait to watch our vegetable patch flourish and see what delicious produce we can grow together!

๐๐ฎ A very exciting visit for our Woodpeckers at Dicky Birds Maple Road!
Following the children's growing interest in the emergency services and conversations about what they would like to be when they grow up, we have been exploring the important roles that help keep our communities safe. ๐
This week, we were delighted to welcome members of our local community police team to the nursery. The children had the opportunity to try on pieces of police uniform, sit inside a police car, hear the sirens and ask lots of thoughtful questions about what police officers do every day. ๐โจ
The visit sparked plenty of curiosity, discussion and imaginative play, helping the children learn more about the people who help us while building confidence and understanding of the world around them.
A huge thank you to our local police team for taking the time to visit and inspire our future community heroes! ๐

๐๐ Supporting children's emotional wellbeing at Kiddi Caru Whiteley
Helping children understand and manage their emotions is an important part of their Early Years journey, which is why we are continuing to develop our emotional coaching approach throughout the nursery. ๐ฑ
We're delighted that a member of our team has recently completed ELSA (Emotional Literacy Support Assistant) training, further strengthening our ability to support children's emotional wellbeing, resilience, confidence and positive relationships.
To help children explore their feelings, we've also introduced a colourful Colour Monster display in our foyer. Inspired by the popular story, it encourages children to identify and talk about their emotions using colours linked to different feelings, helping them build a strong emotional vocabulary from an early age. โจ
By working together with families, we can help children feel understood, valued and confident in expressing how they feel.

๐๐ Celebrating World Environment Day at Little Explorers Day Nursery
Our children spent World Environment Day exploring how they can help care for the world around them through a variety of hands-on activities. ๐ฑ
The children took part in a litter-picking challenge around the nursery grounds, discussing why it's important to keep our environment clean and how litter can affect people, animals and local communities. โป๏ธ
We also visited our local park for a bug hunt, where the children worked together in teams to search for insects, record their findings and learn about the different habitats bugs call home. ๐๐ฆ๐
It was wonderful to see so much curiosity, teamwork and enthusiasm as the children explored nature and discovered how even small actions can make a big difference to our environment.

๐โ๏ธ A refreshing way to learn at Kiddi Caru Whiteley!
With the sunny weather continuing, our 1โ2s enjoyed making their very own lemonade while exploring a variety of tastes, textures and sensory experiences. โจ
The children loved squeezing lemons, mixing water and ice, and watching the ingredients come together. Along the way, they were developing their fine motor skills, exploring cause and effect, and using their senses to discover new smells, textures and flavours. ๐ง

๐โจ Making a difference across our Dicky Birds nurseries
Children and teams across Dicky Birds came together for our annual Make a Difference Week, spreading kindness throughout our local communities and learning how even the smallest actions can have a big impact.
From donating food to support local families, delivering treats to firefighters, baking for community events and creating gifts for local heroes, to litter picking, caring for animals and showing appreciation to fellow nursery teams, the children embraced every opportunity to help others. ๐ฑ
Through these experiences, they learned about kindness, gratitude, responsibility and the importance of being active members of their community. We couldn't be prouder of the compassion, generosity and community spirit they demonstrated throughout the week. ๐
Together, we've shown that small acts of kindness really can make a big difference.
