The Barn Nursery School

The Barn Nursery School

We are a pre-school for children aged 2½ to 5 years, in a village surrounded by fields. They are ready to start school.

We focus on getting to know each child as an individual – their hopes, joys, fears and challenges – to help them to make the most of their valuable early years. The Barn Nursery School was established in 1984 and now operates from a former village school in the village of Wootton St Lawrence. We are a term-time setting and provide outstanding care and education for children from 2 years 6 months

Happy New Year! It is wonderful to welcome everyone back to The Barn after the Christmas holidays. We are having lots of fun in the snow!☃️

The children have worked so hard to decorate The Barn beautifully for Christmas. They were so excited to show the pictures to their parents. It was wonderful to see the children performing their songs and dances at the Christmas Concert. They have made so much progress over the past few weeks!

Welcome to the new term at The Barn

The Explorers and Discoverers performed wonderful summer concerts at the end of our school year together.
Thank you to all of the children who practised so hard and performed so beautifully. Thank you to the parents who were a fantastic audience, in spite of the rain!
We very much look forward to welcoming the Explorers back next term and are excited that many of you will be moving into the Discoverers' room.
We are sad that our beautiful, bright, curious and kind Discoverers are leaving The Barn. We will miss you. We loved being part of your lives over the past few months and helping you to discover more about the fascinating world in which you live, the wonderful people that surround you and what makes you special. We hope that you will be bright rays of sunshine in your new schools - just as you were at The Barn.

We are looking forward to having another lovely picnic in the shade of the tree on the field.

Then he nibbled a hole in the cocoon, pushed his way out and out came ... a beautiful butterfly

He built a small house, called a cocoon, around himself. He stayed inside for more than two weeks.

On Friday, he ate through five oranges, but he was still hungry.
On Saturday, he ate through one piece of chocolate cake, one ice-cream cone, one pickle, one slice of Swiss cheese, one slice of salami, one lollipop, one piece of cherry pie, one sausage, one cupcake, and one slice of watermelon.

The next day was Sunday again. The caterpillar ate through
one nice green leaf, and after that he felt much better.

Now he wasn’t hungry any more — and he wasn’t a little caterpillar any more. He was a big, fat caterpillar.
