This week the children went on a colour hunt! An activity which suited both our smaller 2 year olds and our older children too! Such a simple concept to match colours, but also to be able to challenge the older children by giving them specific shades to look for! A lovely activity to challenge your little ones at home!!

Who needs fancy toys and equipment? Sticks are so versatile and are free! This week we have seen sticks being used to build a giant nest for the birds in the garden, to make music with by hitting the pans in the mud kitchen and to help us to learn about sizes. Tallest, longest and shorter were all some of the words we used and learned just by using sticks!!!!

We were fortunate enough to be given a large dog bed, which we thought would be perfect for our home corner. But the children had other ideas! So it now lives in our book corner, providing that extra cosy nook for reading and cuddling!!! Fits perfectly with our Hygge ethos 💙

Our nature study for this week led us to look at winter trees. We explored the seasons in our beautiful new book, Tree: Seasons come, seasons go, and created our own winter trees using sticks and clay in our builder's tray. We then added fir tree cuttings to our playdough, and created lots of stick letters out in the garden. Sticks and trees are so versatile, and can be used in lots of types of play! And the best bit is....they are free!!!
