I turned down a student once. Here's why and what I told her instead.
This is something I've never spoken about publicly before but I think it's important.
A few years ago, a woman came to me wanting to book our advanced injectable course. She had no foundational training, no experience with injectables, and had been advised by someone else that she could "jump straight in."
I turned her down.
Not because I didn't want her business. But because putting her in front of clients at that stage would have been irresponsible to her, and to those clients.
Instead, I laid out a clear pathway. Three foundational courses first. Then reassess.
She was frustrated at first. She came back six months later, having done the foundational work, and absolutely flew through the advanced training.
She recently messaged me to say she's now one of the most sought-after aesthetic practitioners in her town.
We could have taken her money earlier. But the right thing and the easy thing aren't always the same thing.
