Staying cool in the woods was one our best decisions this week. When we go to Forest play, we are always armed with a trolley of activities and this trip was no exception.

We are going on a BEE hunt.. we’re not scared!

We visited a garden nursery for their bee trail. We found lots of giant bees with some interesting facts about bees. We learnt a waggle dance with one of the staff members and that bees are learn to play football!!!

We have had a bit of a Bee theme this week.. although we don’t do themes we do like to follow the children’s interests. This one wasn’t really an interest as such but the children are always finding little bugs when we are outside. We watched a bee land on a flower today and earlier in the week we had been talking about the flowers on our courgette plants. Our older children knew the bee was ‘eating’ pollen. The educator explained that the bee carries the pollen and looked at pictures with the children.

A little painting invitation was set up this morning outside where the children looked at bee pictures and painted their own bee.
