🌟 What is the Yellow Zone? 🌟

The Yellow Zone of Regulation is when emotions and energy levels are starting to escalate. It might include feelings like worry, frustration, excitement or silliness. In this zone, children may still be in control, but they’re edging closer to losing focus or calmness.

Recognising the Yellow Zone is key to taking action before emotions tip into the Red Zone. Strategies like deep breathing, stretching or taking a quick break can really help!

Have you or your child experienced the Yellow Zone? What helps bring things back into balance? Let’s chat in the comments! ⬇️

💙 What is the Blue Zone?💙

The Blue Zone of Regulation is when energy and emotions are low. It’s often linked to feelings like sadness, tiredness, boredom or even being unwell. In this zone, children may seem slow to respond or less engaged.

Understanding the Blue Zone can help us find ways to boost energy and brighten moods—like movement, music or even just a cuddle.

What are your go-to strategies for helping a child (or yourself!) move out of the Blue Zone? Share your tips below! ⬇️

🔥 What is the Red Zone?

The Red Zone of Regulation is when emotions are intense and energy is at its highest! It can include feelings like anger, frustration or even extreme excitement. In this zone, it’s hard to stay in control and our bodies might feel like they’re going too fast.

Recognising the Red Zone is the first step to learning how to calm and manage those big emotions. ❤️‍🔥

Have you seen children (or even adults!) in the Red Zone? What strategies help bring calmness back? Let’s share ideas below! ⬇️

💚 What is the Green Zone?

The Green Zone of Regulation is the “ready to learn” zone! It’s when emotions and energy levels are balanced and children feel calm, focused and happy. In this zone, they’re in control and able to engage positively with others and their environment.

The Green Zone is the ideal state for learning, playing and problem-solving. While it’s not realistic to stay here all the time, understanding how to return to the Green Zone is a powerful skill.

What activities or strategies help you or your children stay in the Green Zone? Share your ideas below! Or if you’d like to find out more about how to return to the Green Zone ask below too!⬇️

🧠 Do you know what the Zones of Regulation are?

The Zones of Regulation is a framework designed to help children (and adults!) understand and manage their emotions, behaviours, and sensory needs.

It uses four colour-coded "zones" to make recognising feelings and reactions more accessible.

I'd love to hear your thoughts. Have you used the Zones of Regulation before? Or is it something you're curious about? Let me know below! ⬇️

I met so many new and interesting people yesterday. I can't wait to learn more about their businesses. It's so refreshing to know we can work in a supportive environment, without the competition. There is enough work for all of us!

📢 So, what is pressing the buttons? 🎉

At the end of each session, I love wrapping things up with a fun, interactive game that helps consolidate everything we’ve learned together that day. This pupil had worked hard on phonics, fine motor skills and handwriting, so we finished up with a game focusing on sounding out and blending CVC words.

It was clear this was ‘E’s’ favourite part of the session!

Seeing that joy and enthusiasm is what makes teaching so rewarding – not only is he learning, but he’s having fun doing it!
