ST RICHARD GWYN'S GCSE RESULTS 2026
Pupils at St Richard Gwyn Catholic High School in the Vale are celebrating a set of outstanding results, with many achieving excellent outcomes following their hard work and dedication.
Students, their families and staff are immensely proud of the achievements of the pupils on results day. The outstanding outcomes were achieved after years of resilience and hard work. This cohort’s results were highly impressive with exams reverting back to pre-pandemic conditions. There was so much success to celebrate with many pupils attaining extraordinary results. Over a quarter of pupils achieved at least five A*/A grades.
Headteacher, David Blackwell, was also keen to emphasise the achievements of all the pupils. “We are delighted with this year's group and the achievements they have made. They have shown an exceptional level of commitment, and they should be immensely proud of what they have accomplished. With our highest-performing pupil, Emily Harris, securing an incredible 13A*s, there are some truly exceptional outcomes among this year’s results. However, while the headline figures are remarkable, it is the individual achievements that mean the most to us. Behind the results are countless stories of perseverance, determination and courage. Many pupils have faced significant personal challenges and setbacks, yet continued to work hard, remain focused and strive to achieve becoming the very best young people they could become.
We are proud of every student who has worked hard to move forwards and take the next step in their education. Achievement looks different for every young person, and the real measure of success is not simply the grades they receive, but the determination they have shown, the challenges they have overcome and the progress they have made along the way.”
Amongst these results there were some superb individual achievements with six pupils achieving at least 10A* grades. Incredibly a set of twins in the year group achieved identical scores in their GCSEs.
Matt Dunn, Deputy Headteacher said that “the pupils should feel immensely proud of what they have achieved. The results are exceptional. We could not be prouder of them—not only for these outstanding results, but also for the wonderful young people they have grown into. Their success is also a reflection of the tremendous support provided by our parent community and the commitment, care and dedication of our staff.”
Head of Key Stage 4, Neil Evans, said: “These results are a fantastic reflection of the hard work, commitment and determination shown by our pupils. It is a wonderful way to begin the new school year, knowing that so many of our pupils are now ready to take their next steps and begin the next chapters of their educational journeys."
Mrs Burnett, Senior Assistant Headteacher, who attended results day along with many other staff members, said; “As a staff, we feel incredibly proud of what they have achieved. We are a close-knit community at St Richard Gwyn, and it is always a privilege to see our pupils reach this important milestone."
ST RICHARD GWYN'S NEW SCHOOL!
The progress on our new school building is fantastic. The main frame is now in place, with significant groundworks already completed, and it is incredibly exciting to see the building beginning to take shape. The project is progressing at an excellent pace and the school is excited with how quickly it is coming together. When complete, the new building will provide a state-of-the-art learning environment for pupils and offer a fantastic environment for our wonderful pupils. We’re very excited to share with you some digital mock ups of the inside for now!
