Our young adults street dance class runs every Friday night at Motion Control Dance Studio, and it’s the perfect way to switch off from the week, have a laugh and spend the evening dancing with friends 💃 Whether you’ve danced for years or you’ve never stepped foot in a studio before, you’ll be learning fresh routines to the latest tracks in a relaxed and welcoming space where everyone cheers each other on 🙌 It’s a chance to get moving, build your confidence and become part of a crew that genuinely looks forward to Friday nights together ❤️ Bring a mate or come along on your own and make new ones, there’s always room for you, so message us or book your place at and we’ll see you on the dance floor 🌟

I am honoured to be told that I have been nominated for two awards at the South Wales Awards, Iconic Health and Wellness Influencer and Women in Social Impact & Changemaker, and I’m still taking it in.

Twenty-five years ago I came home to the Vale of Glamorgan at a time when my life felt like it had ended. Dance was the thing that brought me back to myself, and I wanted to build a place where it could do the same for other people. With no business training and no roadmap, I started Motion Control Dance one class at a time. Today it’s a charity where people living in the Vale can all find somewhere they belong and have a chance to dance. Being recognised for that work means more to me than I can put into words.

🖤 October is Black History Month, and as a dance charity we want to take a moment to celebrate the Black artists, teachers and communities whose creativity shaped so much of the dance we share in our studios every week, because jazz, tap, hip hop and street dance all grew out of African and African diaspora traditions, and our dancers move to that legacy every time they step onto the floor
Here in Britain, Jamaican-born dancer Berto Pasuka founded Les Ballets Nègres in London in 1946, widely recognised as the first Black dance company in Europe, then in 1981 three young men from Leeds started Phoenix Dance Theatre, and in 2001 Cassa Pancho founded Ballet Black to give Black and Asian dancers the place on the ballet stage they had too often been denied 🌟 Closer to home, Cardiff's Butetown is home to one of the oldest Black communities in the UK, and that history is part of the story of South Wales too.

What a night at our young adults street dance class tonight 🔥 The studio was buzzing from the very first track, and by the time we hit the final run of the routine everyone was hitting every move, cheering each other on and grinning from ear to ear 🙌 It reminds me every week why this class matters so much, because it’s a room full of young people who’ve come straight from work, college or uni, or who just needed something for themselves, and they walk in and give it absolutely everything 💃 A huge thank you to everyone who came along tonight and brought that energy, you made it such a special session ❤️ If you’ve been thinking about giving it a go, there’s always room for you, no experience needed, just come as you are and we’ll see you on the dance floor 🌟

🎃 Our Halloween Danceathon is coming to the MCD Studio on 31st October, and we would love you to dance, donate or cheer along with us 💃 For over 25 years we have been enriching lives through movement here in the Vale of Glamorgan, from our little ones taking their first steps in class to the members who come to us each week for friendship, confidence and a reason to get moving. Our dancers will be keeping the music going in their spookiest costumes to raise £3000, and every penny will help keep our community dance sessions running for the people who rely on them 👻
