Today, we continue with our preparations for the 26-27 academic year after a fairly restful summer ✏️

What better way to begin the new academic year than to proudly announce that we were successful with our funding application to Mid Copeland GDF Community Partnership 🎊

This means we can continue to build on our great work from last year - which was supported by Cumberland Council - and reach more pupils, in more age groups with our programme 💚

This academic year has been amazing for Screen-Savvy Kidz 🧒📵

We delivered 80 workshops, to 2000 pupils, at over 55 primary schools across Cumbria 💚

Next year is going to be even bigger and better...

More workshops ✅

More parent resources ✅
More impact ✅

To get the good news rolling for 2026-2027 school year, we are very excited to announce more funding from Westmorland and Furness Council's South Lakeland Locality Board who have funded this programme since its inception 👏👏

AND...fresh funding from Cumberland Council's Workington Together Community Panel to expand our programme into Workington and the surrounding areas 🙏🙏

Today the UK Government announced that there WILL be a ban on social media for under-16s 📱🚫

They plan to bring this into reality by Spring 2027 🇬🇧 ☀️

According to a release from the Gov.uk:

Well done to the Year 5 pupils at Bookwell School for their amazing contribution to the Screen-Savvy Kidz programme 💪

It was hard to judge so many brilliant pieces of art, but we are glad to see that the banner looks fantastic ✨

Earlier this term, our Year 5 children took part in a Screen-Savvy Kidz UK workshop. As part of the session, they designed posters promoting ways to stay safe when using the internet.
The children produced some fantastic designs. We are delighted to share the school banner, which will help spread the important online safety message across our community.
Well done to all of our Year 5 pupils for their effort and thoughtful ideas

As part of a Screen Savvy Workshop, KS2 created their own eye-catching designs to promote online safety and digital wellbeing. The winning entries have been selected and proudly transformed into a large banner now displayed outside the school.

This celebration of pupil voice highlights their understanding of staying safe, balanced, and positive online—showcasing both their creativity and the lasting impact of the workshop.

✨ It was great to meet with Michelle Scrogham MP for Barrow & Furness last month and share all the fantastic work we’ve been doing with Screen-Savvy Kidz! 📱🎨

Michelle showed a real understanding of the issue and could strongly relate as a parent herself 👨‍👩‍👧💬

A big thank you to Michelle and Rosa for taking the time to meet with us and visit the schools we’ve been working with - your support means so much! 🙌🏫

As we expand our programme into Whitehaven and Workington, it would be great to meet with Josh MacAlister MP next because we know how passionate he is about this topic 🙏🙏
