Next Friday! Always a great event in a great cause. We hope you can join us but even if your can't and want to send a donation in, we will be having a small coffee morning in the classes too while the main event goes on.

Donations of cake or raffle prizes are also vital- if you could bring them the day before (Thursday) that'd be amazing. Thanks, PTA

Good afternoon,

Please like and share this post, it really helps reach the widest audience.

We are really looking forward to welcoming all of the children back next week and I thought I'd best send out various reminders!

We've had a busy holiday! Two big features are improving the playground to encourage active play and give wider opportunities for those who aren't especially interested in football. Many of these changes have been requested by the children, such as a colouring and reading shed, as well as somewhere to play with construction.

Thanks to Mr Riley for several weeks of hard work on site to Love Barrow Families who have supported. Also to Mrs Kummer, Mrs Harrison and Mrs Murdoch for helping get some of us to football and to summer activities. And don't forget Mrs Malone-Heddles and Mrs O Connor in the office. Please look out for info requests from them!

The other change is in our attendance and lunch procedures to make it clearer and give support. This isn't a change in rules as such, simply making matters much easier to follow for all of us.

Staff will be in school on Tuesday 1st September for a training day, so if you have any urgent questions please phone the office in the afternoon .

School will reopen to pupils on Wednesday 2nd September at 8.35am. Breakfast club will be available from 7.45am. Even though it is free now, please remember to book on the School Hub. School finishes at 3.30pm Mon-Thurs and 2.15pm on a Friday.
Free School Meals are changing from September 2026.

'Bus people' will be contacted on the Tuesday 1st September.

IMPORTANT: As a parent or carer, you may need to re-apply for the 2026/27 school year — even if your child already receives Free School Meals. It only takes a few minutes to check, and applying could save your family up to £500 per child each year. Not only that, our funding is calculated on this, so even if your child is in Reception, One and Two it is worth doing it anyway! Please check and apply so everything is in place before September 2026.

Check your eligibility and apply here: gov.uk/apply-free-school-meals

On the subject of school meals, PLEASE remember to choose online before next Wednesday- it makes such a difference to the office, especially on the first day.

Can we ask that you name all of your children's uniform and coats, in particular jumpers/cardigans. We do have lots of excellent quality uniform available for £1 or donation to school funds if you require anything, please just ask at the office, including on the afternoon of September 1st.

Last but not least, congratulations to Miss Wright, who is now Mrs Hanson and after a 'soft launch' of name change last year, to Miss Newbury who is Mrs Gilmour.

Here's to a fantastic school year at St George's!

Kind Regards,

Mr Herbert

PLEASE READ. Some Free School Meals benefits are changing and you may need to reapply.. This could save you a lot of money-not just with Free School Meals but uniform and vouchers too. It also helps school because it is a big factor in how the children's funding is calculated. Even if you are in Reception, Year 1 and 2, as well as the older years, or haven't got it before, please have a go and apply.

It only takes a few minutes to check, and applying could save your family up to £500 per child each year while helping make sure your child has a healthy lunch ready for the new school year.
Please apply now so everything is in place before September 2026.
Check your eligibility and apply here:

Check if your child can get free school meals - and find out how to apply on your local authority’s website.

Please enjoy our Nursery Glastonbury Headliner Tacks! The children explored a range of iconic artists by watching live performances and listening to some famous festival favourites. They then became musicians themselves, using drums to create and keep steady beats along with the music.

We sang and moved to a fantastic selection of songs, including Hey Boy Hey Girl, Song 2, Rebel Rebel, Parklife, and played the drums for Kylie! We also enjoyed moving along to Locomotion with plenty of enthusiastic "woo hoos!"

Enjoy!
