We are so proud of our wonderful Reception class and how well theyโ€™ve settled into our class. โœจ

Theyโ€™ve spent their week exploring the areas, making new friends, learning routines and starting their phonics lessons, all whilst having lots of fun! Weโ€™ve also enjoyed reading โ€˜What Makes Me a Me?โ€™ this week. Weโ€™ve been learning about what our facial features are and discussing similarities and what makes us all different and unique.

Every month our prayer room sessions are dedicated to the Church's monthly devotion.
For September this is the Seven Sorrows of Mary.
At break today, one of our young prayer leaders led a session for some children from Year 2. She focused on the first two Sorrows - the prophecy of Simeon and the Flight into Egypt, explaining them in a way the younger children could understand before leading them in prayer.
It was a lovely, peaceful session.

Our first full week back at school and we are straight back to our favourite opal activities.

This week we also had an assembly with Mr Bolton. We were reminded how to keep ourselves and others safe as we enjoy our outdoor play time.

๐Ÿคธโ€โ™€๏ธ Year 4โ€™s First Gymnastics Lesson! ๐Ÿคธโ€โ™‚๏ธ

Year 4 had a fantastic first gymnastics lesson! They revisited a range of gymnastics shapes and developed their skills through partner balances.

They also worked on muscle strength and control, with partners challenging each other to maintain their positions while gently trying to move their legs when holding a pike or straddle position. ๐Ÿ’ช

There was lots of teamwork, concentration and determination on show!

๐ŸŒŸ A brilliant first lesson โ€” well done, Year 4! ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿคธ

What a busy week in Year 2! ๐ŸŒŸ

We have worked really hard on our pre-cursive handwriting, enjoyed the first unit of our Art topic, experimenting with drawing using different mediums, enjoyed reading together and tried our best with place value in Maths.

In RE, we have been looking at the Bible and why it is important. We have also enjoyed developing our movement skills and teamwork during Fundamentals in PE.

Well done, Year 2, for another fantastic week!

Today, our Pastoral Pod received a beautiful new book, written by local Barrow author Tilly Bibby. ๐Ÿ“–๐Ÿ’›

This beautifully written story has been created to help children who are experiencing loss and grief. It offers a gentle, comforting way for children to explore their feelings and understand that they are not alone.

We are so grateful to receive this special book, which will be shared with many children and become a treasured part of our Nurture Nest, supporting children through some of lifeโ€™s most difficult moments.

Thank you, Tilly, for creating such a meaningful and important story. ๐Ÿ’•

๐ŸŽจ Year 4 Art โ€“ Drawing โœ๏ธ

Year 4 have had a fantastic couple of days working on Art unit! We explored different types of lines and pencils, taking inspiration from Giorgio Morandiโ€™s still-life work and his use of muted colours.

We created continuous line drawings, experimented with oil pastels and watercolour washes to add depth, and used viewfinders to take a closer look at natural objects and their details. ๐ŸŒฟ๐Ÿ”Ž

Some fantastic creativity and careful observation from Year 4! We canโ€™t wait to see what we create next! ๐ŸŽจโœจ
