National Reading Fun in Barrow today… 📚💙💛

🎉 We're all set up at The Bridge, ready for their Words and Wonders event to celebrate National Literacy Day today!

We'll be giving away FREE books, thanks to our partnership with the National Literacy Trust as part of the National Year of Reading, and we'll be joined by some brilliant local organisations offering free workshops, activities and giveaways.

Westmorland and Furness Libraries, Family Hubs in Barrow-in-Furness and Lakes International Comic Art Festival are all joining The Bridge team to celebrate the day, with plenty of activities and giveaways on offer. There will also be an exclusive reading of a soon to be released children's book by local author Richard Graham!

The Bridge team have also set up their book swap, so you can bring along a book you've finished and swap it for a brand new read.

📍 You'll find everything at The Bridge on Portland Walk today from 10:30am-2:30pm. Come along and celebrate the joy of reading with us!

A big well done to this pair of South Walney park run superstars. Mrs Callister really loved seeing you run past her marshalling post and Mrs Squires was so happy to get to cheer you in. 💙💛👏🏼 We do hope we can see more of you at a park run again in the future. (Well done and Thankyou Daddies too!)

Who’s joining us for Park run tomorrow? We had a great assembly with Steve, park run director and he told us all about this fantastic, free, fun way to be active and social. Mrs Callister can’t wait to see you all there! 8.50am at the bandstand 💙💛

Today SWINS said Goodbye to two special ladies who leave us to enjoyed retired life and one special young lady who moves on from her apprenticeship here to explore new work opportunities. Thankyou Mrs Leitch and Mrs Ivison for all your hard work, dedication and love over the years- you deserve every minute of new adventures and relaxation time but know you will be missed. Thankyou Miss Hartle we are so sad to see you go and wish you very success for the future. 💙💛💙
