Social Blend on Barrhead Main Street is part of Include Me 2 Club and gives people with additional support needs the chance to gain real experience and develop skills in hospitality and retail.

School holidays nearly over and running out of ways to keep the kids occupied? 😅

Planet Play could be a good shout for the final stretch! With a huge soft play area and plenty to keep little ones busy, it’s an easy way to get them out the house and burn off some energy this weekend. 🪐🚀

And although Planet Play is all about the kids, the adults haven’t been forgotten either. Their café has a great menu, so you can grab some food or a coffee while the kids play. ☕🍴

The friendly team at Frasers’ Pharmacy in Barrhead are looking for someone to join them on a temporary, part-time basis to cover maternity leave.

The role is 20.5 hours per week, working across Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday.

There’s still time to squeeze in a wee trip to Central Café for ice cream, sweeties and maybe something savory before the kids are back at school!

Central Café has been part of Barrhead since 1968, which means generations of local families have memories of coming here when they were wee. Now you can bring your own kids along and make some of those same memories with them!

Makhanaa opened earlier this year and it’s already built up a brilliant reputation with Barrhead locals! 💜

Since opening, so many people have been in to try it and the feedback has been consistently good! Of course the food gets plenty of praise, but people also keep mentioning just how friendly, welcoming and helpful the staff are, with lots of customers saying they’ve already been back more than once.

The menu is huge too, with pakoras, pooris, tandoori dishes, curries, lamb dishes, dum biryanis, rice, naan, set meals and a kids’ menu, so there’s plenty to choose from whether you like to stick to your usual or try something different. 🍛

And if you don’t fancy sitting in, Makhanaa also does takeaway, so you can still enjoy favourites like chicken tikka masala, korma, biryani, pakora and freshly baked naan at home.

It’s great to see one of Barrhead’s newer restaurants getting so much love already!

It’s amazing to see THREE Barrhead chippies named as finalists in the Scottish Fish and Chip Awards 2026! 🐟👏

A huge congratulations to Kadir’s, LARCO and Alpino, who are all in the running for recognition at this year’s awards!

These awards celebrate some of the best fish and chip shops across Scotland, so it’s fantastic to see three of our very own Barrhead businesses making the list.

Each has built its own loyal following over the years, with plenty of locals having their favourites!

And with Friday traditionally being chippy night, what better excuse to show our local businesses some support? Whether you’re after a classic fish supper or something else on the menu, there’s plenty of choice right here in Barrhead. 🍟
