We're hoping that everyone enjoyed the early summer, fortunately we have some shelter and we're delighted to be back in the very lush woods for tomorrow's Wellbeing in Nature session at Hakeford Woods. As well as the shelter we'll have activities, a tasty lunch and great company and we'll have the kettle on and ready in the roundhouse for our usual time 11-2.30.
Please book a place if you're planning to come along.
The link can be found on the bookings page of our website https://hakefordwoods.org.uk
There are still places available for tomorrow's session if you or someone you know fancies a few hours in the woods.
The kettle will be on, there will be a warm lunch cooked on the fire and crafts or jobs to keep yourself busy or seats for sitting on if you'd rather relax by the fire or the pond.
If you have any questions please don't hesitate to get in touch.
These sessions are aimed to provide activities and opportunities with therapeutic benefits for adults struggling with mental health challenges.
We ran our first pilot project in the Autumn of 2017, where the participants really enjoyed the opportunities to spend time out in the woods being creative, constructive, sociable or just relaxing. After successfully managing to get funding to support the project, we began to provide weekly sessions every Thursday from Easter 2018.
Sessions are free to attend and open to anybody who feels that their mental and physical health could benefit from time spent in nature.
If you would like to know more please get in touch or check out our website.
We are extremely grateful to the following organisations and others that have provided the funding over the years that allowed us to continue to run the Wellbeing in Nature Project: Recovery Devon; Devon Community Foundation; The National Lottery Community Fund; Tesco Bags of Help; The Alpkit Foundation; North Devon District Councillors and Devon County Councillors and an award from the Postcode Local Trust.

There will be a chance to practice your whittling, as usual, and time to take a relaxing walk in the lush woodland or paddle in the river. A chance to channel your inner child and play for the day. Lunch and hot drinks are included so you just need to roll out of bed and get yourself there! Bookings open. https://hakefordwoods.bookwhen.com

Men's Woodland Wellbeing session this Saturday 23rd May 10-2 and it looks set to be another lovely day. We'll be in the top camp this week as the Women's group will be using the roundhouse.

We don't have any fixed plans at the moment, but we may do some work on the new workshop, another project or just enjoy the cool shade of the trees. The fire will be on and there'll be good company to spend a few hours in the woods, enjoying the sights and sounds of Spring and the chance to chat, whittle, get creative.

Our Men's Woodland Wellbeing group is open to any men who feel that they could benefit from a few hours in the woods in good company. You're very welcome to help out with some of our projects, try your hand at whittling or another woodland craft, explore, or just spend some time sat by the fire, no pressure to do anything more than you fancy.
Bookings can be made through the bookings page of our website, or just drop us a message to let us know if you're planning to come along.

Roundhouse Build day 8
Other than the hole in the middle we now have a waterproof roof for our special new space deep in the woods.
Thanks again to everyone who has helped so far. The next step is getting the plastic covered to form a nice living roof, then building something to cover the hole in the top and milling the timber for the wooden floor.
