OWB Matthew Daly (2009-2017 Courtenay) has been training hard for the upcoming London Marathon. He is running to raise awareness and funds for PSPA, the UK's only charity dedicated to supporting people affected by Corticobasal Degeneration (CBD). His motivation is personal - his grandmother, Joan Daly, passed away in 2011 after living with CBD, a rare and progressive neurological disease with no cure. It was a fantasmagorical show at the Landmark Theatre last night. Super to catch up with Mr Hooper, Mr Ponder and Mr Tucker at the school’s performance of Chitty Chitty Bang Bang.

What an evening! Our centenary debate in the Karslake was as spirited as ever, with a highly contentious motion sparking a brilliant battle of wits. With cheese, wine, and a very partisan crowd of Sixth Formers joining in, the WBS team narrowly won both the speeches and the motion. A fitting tribute to a century of debate, curiosity and intellectual challenge. Here’s to the next 100 years of the Phoenix Society! West Buckland School
