Yesterday, Lilac class visited Barnstaple Museum to learn about how transport has changed throughout history.
They had a brilliant time and the children were proud to present a picture they had made of the Barnstaple clock tower to the Museum staff. All the children had a role in creating the mixed media artwork and the Museum loved it!

On the 24th June one of our students, Seth Satterley attended the final of the Junior South West Chef of the Year competition at Exeter College. He got through to the final with an amazing dish of wild garlic and nettle gnocchi, pea and mint puree, pan fried asparagus, courgette and mackerel. All of the ingredients were locally sourced with the mackerel coming from Brixham and all other ingredients coming from local farm shops. He personally foraged his herbs, and the peas were picked and shelled from his garden. The standard of the dishes prepared were definitely worthy of the Michelin star chefs that were judging! Seth did amazingly well to get to the final and he is definitely a winner in the eyes of his amazing family and all of us here at Pathways and Pathfield!

This week some of our โ€˜Champions for Changeโ€™ group set off early to Sandy Park. We took part in the โ€˜Four Cornerstones Conferenceโ€™ which is about SEND children having a voice about what they need. Miley, Owen, Gracey and Tiffany represented the school really well in all the activities they took part in. They were able to put their views and ideas across to different agencies that also took part.

Last week, Lilac Class enjoyed a trip out to Combe Martin Wildlife and Dinosaur Park. They spoke with the sealion keeper and learned how the sealions are looked after, how old they are, what they like to eat, what they are scared of and what toys they like to play with. The children especially loved watching the monkeys playing.

Hosting the annual Carnegie Awards is a highlight of our school year. We are delighted to support Devon Library Services who run this event and invite groups from primary schools across North Devon to present their nominations for Illustrator of the Year. This year was the biggest event yet, with almost 50 students in attendance and our team were outstanding! They put so much effort into their artwork and presented the results with confidence. Congratulations to Kaiden, Miley, Owen, Summer, Tommy and Tyler.

A group of our students went on an adventure to London as part of a 3-day residential. It was an amazing experience for our students and we all had so much fun. It was lovely to see how independent they were and also how they looked out for each other. This trip would not be possible without the dedication of the staff who attended, so we also want to give a huge thank you to Anthony, Adam, Bev, Sharon, Alison, Roz and Mike. We look forward to more adventures in the future.
