After 6 weeks of building our painting skills, colour confidence, and layering techniques, here are the children’s beautiful finished pieces inspired by the wonderful style of Yvonne Coomber. 🌸✨
The progress they have made has been incredible — from experimenting with texture and blending to creating these vibrant meadow scenes full of movement and imagination. Each painting is completely unique and reflects the creativity and personality of its young artist.
We are so proud of everything they’ve achieved over the past few weeks. 💛🎨

Pupils in Hive 3 have been learning all about pollination! 🌸🐝
We used cotton buds to move the “pollen” between flowers, just like bees do. The children loved taking on the role of busy little pollinators! We also talked about how pollination can happen through the wind as well.

Our pupils at Newstead Hunningley had a fantastic time exploring pitch in music! 🎶
Through hands-on activities with the keyboard, they experimented with high and low sounds, discovering how pitch can change and how it makes music feel different. Each pupil had the opportunity to create their own unique pitch sounds, showing creativity, curiosity, and confidence.
It was wonderful to see everyone so engaged—listening carefully, trying new ideas, and expressing themselves through music. A brilliant session full of learning, exploration, and fun! 🎹✨

This week, our pupils at Newstead Hunningley embraced the sunshine and let their creativity bloom outdoors ☀️🌿
Inspired by the vibrant, expressive style of Yvonne Coomber, they explored colour, movement, and imagination through painting.
It was a beautiful reminder of how art can capture not just what we see, but how we feel—full of energy, freedom, and happiness.
We’re so proud of their creativity and the way they brought the outdoors to life on canvas 💛
