🌱💚 A HUGE THANK YOU TO BARNSLEY GLASS LTD! 💚🌱

We would like to say an enormous THANK YOU to Barnsley Glass LTD for the fantastic work they have done restoring the greenhouse in our school allotment! 🪴✨

The greenhouse was in real need of some TLC, and thanks to their hard work and support, we now have a space that our children will be able to safely use, learn in and enjoy.

We can’t wait to get inside and start bringing it to life! 🌱🥕🍅 Over the coming months, our children will be able to use the greenhouse to grow their own vegetables and plants, learn more about where our food comes from, explore sustainability and develop their understanding of caring for our environment. 🌍💚

Projects like this make such a difference to the opportunities we can offer our children, and we are incredibly grateful to Barnsley Glass LTD for supporting our school and helping us develop our allotment even further.

Now comes the exciting bit… getting the inside ready and starting to grow! 🌻🪴🥬

At HCPS, we’re passionate about helping our children develop a love and appreciation for Yorkshire—learning about its rich history, inspiring people, local landmarks and the communities that make our county so special. We believe that understanding where we come from helps shape where we can go.

Happy Summer Holidays - we hope you are all having a lovely break. On the final Wednesday of last academic year we hosted our HCPS Houses Day where 8 children were voted via ballot papers during our HCPS Election. We welcomed The Mayor of Barnsley and Deputy Lieutenant Col George Kilburn visited school to support and discuss elections with our pupils!

Children will need:
—> PE Kits (Sports Kits in Nursery due to no house teams)
—> Spare clothes (incase children get wet)
—> Drinks bottle

We look forward to welcoming the Mayor of Barnsley and the Deputy Lieutenant for Yorkshire to HCPS tomorrow to discuss all things democracy as part of our Heads of House elections.

Tomorrow, all children will have the chance to vote and elect their heads of houses for the 26-27 academic year🙌🏻

Last week on Monday our Year 5 pupils headed down to the allotment to start clearing more weeds, we are well on with Project Nature, and aim to have more completed ahead of our return to school from the summer break.

Hoyland Common Primary School has agreed a partnership with Active Club, who will be running their very own Summer Sports Camp on our school site throughout the summer holidays.

Active Club is a well-established sports and activities company that provides PPA cover, PE lessons and after-school clubs across the Barnsley area. Their experienced team delivers fun, engaging and active sessions that children thoroughly enjoy.

The Summer Sports Camp will be running on:

- Every Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday
At Hoyland Common Primary School
- Packed with exciting sports, games and activities for children to enjoy throughout the summer

What an incredible Summer Fun Day! Despite the very hot weather, our parents, families, local community and all our amazing stall holders showed up with smiles, support and so much enthusiasm. You helped make the day a real success, and we’re so grateful for every single one of you.

A special shout‑out to the Barnsley College students who joined us for some brilliant busking throughout the afternoon — your talent and kindness didn’t go unnoticed, and we truly appreciate you giving up your time for our school.
