Barnsley 10km over and out πŸƒβ€β™€οΈ

Last minute decision, no real goal just put one foot in front of the other.

It's not often I say it about my own performance but I am actually quite chuffed. Despite it being hotter than hell and the route having an unnecessary number of hills it all ended with a PB of 49.09.

The atmosphere was awesome as was the waterboarding by the fire hose πŸ’¦

Well done to everyone who too part and to the CrossFit Barnsley crew who supported along the way 🫢

I think we will call it a 1 and done 🎀

District L 4.0

4.5 months post surgery I wasn't sure this would be able to happen.

But here we are 4 years of Lifting in the Lakes 🏞

And once again we were graced by glorious conditions 🌞

Thank you to my team who absolutely smashed it ,carried me and my peg leg and provided all the emotional support πŸ₯²

Shout out to the rest of the CrossFit Barnsley family for their cheers, videography and heckling.

A fabulous time was had πŸ–€

Is there a 5th year ahead πŸ‘€

Humbled by 45kg but got to start somewhere 😭

Not the prettiest of squats and the form could be better but its a work in progress.

This is the first squat training I've even entertained doing post ACL surgery and I can't wait to get started with squat block πŸ‘

Progressing with physio and beginning to fee a little more like myself.

Time to bulk up this twiglet leg 🦡

Wodland Teams of 3 🌲

Was a test of the mind as much as the body.

10months ago in the same spot I tore my ACL and cartilage. Since then it's been what feels like a lifetime waiting for surgery and then the aftermath which I am still very much still wading through.

This comp was signed up to pre fu***ng up my knee and it was touch and go whether I would compete or not.

As you can see by the pics me and my peg leg made it.

Was I am my best? Nope.
I thought that would p**s me off but it was bloody good to be moving and feel a bit like me again.
And that was all possible thanks to the incredible people I surround myself with.

Thanks to and for being the best team.

Thank you to for supporting me when I make slightly unhinged choices on doing comps so soon post surgery.

Winning in life getting to spend my time doing stupid stuff with these fab humans ❀️

PS I am still following my post op protocols, I may have just pushed the boundaries this weekend 😬

Going from the first pic to the second is not quite the vibe I had in mind...

Last year during a comp I had a pretty brutal landing and ended up totally tearing my ACL and meniscus.

After 5 months of scans and waiting for appointments I finally had surgery to repair the damage to my knee.

In that 5 months I've been trying to maintain strength and range of movement to save my sanity and put me in good stead for my surgery.

Surgery that I have been wishing for and dreading all at the same time.

Truth is despite being a Physio myself I am a terrible patient πŸ™ˆ

The thought of being reliant on people and not being able to train to the intensity I am used to absolutely filled me with dread - first world problems I know.

Training to me is more than just exercise, it's something I love, it's spending time with my favourite people, it's seeing what I am capable of, it's my identity.

I would be lying if thoughts like:

Will I ever get back to my level pre injury?
How much weight will I put on?
What do I do to feel like me?
What if the surgery isn't a success

Didn't go through my head.

Fortunately I surround myself with THE best people who:
A) support me to the max
B) give excellent tough love
C) show me that at any age and level you start you can be strong AF

So now it's time to build.

Priorities obviously need to be following the consultant guidance.

Outside eof that I now have time to focus on the things that I don't prioritise:

Upper body strength
Quality movement rather than sending it all the time
Mobility

It's not gonna be easy but turns out I'm stubborn as f**k.

So regardless of how long it takes there will be an after photo. A photo of me back to sending it, back to competing, back to me but with an extra bit of character building from this whole experience.

For now I just can't wait to get rid of these sodding crutches πŸ€¦πŸ½β€β™€οΈ

Tune in for more stories of me and my peg leg πŸ—
