Today is World Autism Day 💙
The 2026 theme, “Autism and Humanity – Every Life Has Value,” is a powerful reminder that every autistic person deserves dignity, understanding, and equal opportunities in education, healthcare, and employment.
Did you know? Around 1 in 127 people are diagnosed as autistic, but studies suggest the real number could be much higher—closer to 1 in 57 people, especially among children.
As awareness grows, it’s more important than ever that schools, public spaces, and communities create environments where neurodivergent people feel supported and included, so everyone can take part in the activities they enjoy.
To support this, we’ve written an article on how sensory rooms can help individuals with autism and sensory processing needs. You can read it here:

Let’s continue working towards a more inclusive world for everyone 💙

We absolutely love helping schools create sensory rooms that make a real difference for their pupils 💜
It was a pleasure to install this beautiful new sensory space at Holy Family Catholic Primary School in Leeds – and we’re so happy to see how much the children are already enjoying it!
From calming bubble tubes and soft LED lighting to interactive controls and immersive sound, the room has quickly become a favourite place for pupils to relax, regulate, and explore their senses.
Here’s what the school had to say:
“We are absolutely delighted with the new sensory room installation by Experia at Holy Family Primary School. The room looks fantastic and has quickly become a favourite space for our children… The finished room has made a hugely positive impact on our pupils’ wellbeing and learning.”
– Alice Birch
Seeing the positive impact these spaces have is why we do what we do 💙

Proud moment!
We’re excited to have launched the first Immersive Reality room in any airport worldwide at Hector International Airport in Fargo, ND.
The response so far has been incredible — everyone who’s experienced it has had amazing things to say. When the local authority team visited recently, the only word people were saying as they walked out was simply: “WOW!”
It’s fantastic to see innovation creating such memorable experiences for travellers.
Looking forward to seeing even more people enjoy it!

Today is Random Acts of Kindness Day 💙
At Experia, we believe creating supportive environments is one of the most practical ways to show kindness.
A well-designed sensory space can:
• Help someone regulate their emotions
• Provide a calm area during a difficult day
• Support focus and engagement
• Make environments more inclusive
For over 20 years, we’ve worked with schools, care settings and community spaces to design multi-sensory environments that make a real difference every day.
Kindness doesn’t have to be complicated — sometimes it starts with creating the right space.

🚀 Even astronauts need a breather
NASA has had to end a space station mission early for the first time ever due to a medical emergency involving one of the crew.
That led me to a fascinating Radio 4 programme, “Sickness in Space: What do astronauts do if they’re unwell?” featuring a former astronaut. Alongside the physical challenges, they spoke candidly about mental health in space — isolation, pressure, and having virtually no personal space (imagine a hot-desk… but orbiting Earth).
It got me thinking 🤔
If we talk so much about sensory and wellbeing spaces here on Earth…
👉 Could you have a sensory or immersive room on a spaceship?
👉 Floating bean bags? Calming lights? A view of Earth that isn’t your workstation?
So now I’m curious:
What’s the craziest or most unexpected place you can imagine a sensory space existing?
Let us have your ideas in the comments.
All jokes aside, the bigger takeaway for me is this:
💭 Mental health challenges can affect anyone, anywhere — even in space.
If you or someone you know needs support, organisations like Mind are there to help. Reaching out can make all the difference.

As 2025 comes to a close, it’s time to reflect. 🕰️ Not just on what we’ve achieved, but on the system we work within.
This year at Experia:
✅ 60+ installations completed
✅ New website launched
✅ Team strengthened
✅ Products developed to better support neurodivergent children and young people
But SEND is still under pressure. 📚 Demand keeps rising, funding is stretched, and Ofsted calls SEND the biggest challenge schools face in England today.
There is movement. The Department for Education has committed £740m to increase SEND places, with more reforms expected in 2026.
Next year will be about turning policy into action—making inclusion real for children and young people. 💚
What do you think will make the biggest difference in 2026? Funding, workforce, early intervention… or something else? Let’s talk! 💬

Today is the International Day of Persons with Disabilities, and this year’s theme “Fostering disability-inclusive societies for advancing social progress” is something we care deeply about at Experia.
Our sensory and immersive reality rooms help make venues and experiences more accessible for people with disabilities by creating calming spaces where they can relax, reset, and feel supported, even in busy or overwhelming environments.
We’re proud to be part of the movement toward a more inclusive and equitable world.
