🚗 A little patience goes a long way…

Yes, we had priority on the bridge — but that doesn’t mean we have to rush through.

Please remember learners might not set off as quickly as an experienced driver, even when they can see the road is clear.

They’re processing what they can see, making decisions and building confidence — and sometimes they just need that extra second. ⏱️

So if slowing down slightly gives someone the time and space they need, why not? A little courtesy can make a huge difference to someone’s confidence behind the wheel. 💙

🚗 WOULD YOU PASS? 👀

You’re approaching a STOP sign. You’ve got a clear view in every direction, there’s no traffic, no pedestrians, and the road looks completely clear.

👉 Do you still come to a FULL stop?

Or do you slow down, see that it’s clear, and carry on?

A STOP sign means STOP — every time. 🛑

And here’s one that catches people out…

⚠️ Holding the car on the clutch is NOT the same as stopping.

If you’re balancing the clutch and keeping the car stationary for a moment, you still need to make a proper, controlled stop. Bring the car to a complete halt and make sure you’re positioned correctly before moving off.

Remember:
✅ Stop completely at the stop line
✅ Don’t just slow down and roll through
✅ Don’t rely on the clutch to keep the car stationary
✅ Check carefully in all directions
✅ Look out for pedestrians, cyclists and other road users
✅ Only move off when it’s safe

Even if you can see that the road is completely clear, the STOP sign still means STOP. 🛑

🚗 WOULD YOU PASS? 👀

You’re approaching this hill on a single carriageway. You can see:

⚪⚪ Double solid white lines
🏁 National Speed Limit signs
⛰️ A big hill ahead

So… what should you be thinking about?

1️⃣ The hill: Have you seen it early enough to prepare? Selecting the correct gear before the climb can help you maintain control and avoid losing too much speed.

2️⃣ The speed limit: You’ve seen the National Speed Limit sign — but that doesn’t mean you should automatically drive at the maximum. Your speed should still be appropriate for the road, conditions and what you can safely see ahead.

3️⃣ The double white lines: Do you know what they mean? You must not cross or straddle the solid line nearest to you, except in specific circumstances permitted by the Highway Code.

👀 An examiner isn’t just looking for you to drive the road — they’re looking for you to see, understand and respond to what’s ahead.
