Year 5 pupils from Worsborough Common Primary School enjoyed an exciting Taster Day at Barnsley College University Centre.

From hands-on sessions in Public Services and Childcare to a fun “Letter Hunt” around campus, pupils explored how their learning links to real careers. The day finished with a visit to our immersive classroom, where they stepped aboard the International Space Station.

A brilliant introduction to future pathways and what learning at BCUC is all about.

Our Esports students have been working with NEXUS in Barnsley to deliver inclusive esports sessions for young people with SEND.

From running lunchtime clubs to exploring careers in esports, our students are helping learners build confidence, develop communication skills and discover new opportunities.

At the same time, they are gaining valuable real-world experience to support their future careers in teaching, coaching and the digital sector.

A fantastic example of learning in action and making a difference in the local community.

❄️ Weather update (Friday 9 January) - All campuses are open today as normal, but please take care travelling to and from College or when moving between sites. Please wear sensible footwear and clothing, as it's cold outside.

This week our Film and TV HNC and Photography HNC students have been braving the cold to experiment with aerial drone shots - helping them understand new perspectives, build technical confidence and strengthen their professional portfolios.

The session introduced them to industry-standard equipment and gave them the chance to develop practical skills in planning, capturing and editing footage from above.

Learning how to operate drones safely and creatively forms an important skill within the media industry, with drone shots being increasingly in demand across film, television and commercial photography, giving our students a valuable advantage as they progress through their studies and into future careers.
