Next week we say goodbye to our "Miss Cheryl" as she retires and begins the next chapter of her life.

Cheryl has dedicated her adult life to caring for, nurturing and loving young children.

We are lucky enough to have had Cheryl work for Wise Owl for 22 years and she has been the foundation of our baby room, having cared for and supported hundreds of children and families during this time.

Some of our staff are lucky enough to have been cared for by Cheryl as children, and anyone who has been cared for by Cheryl knows what it means to be loved and supported.

Cheryl plays our "Mother Hen" and will be missed beyond measure - we cannot imagine a Wise Owl without her, and we hope she'll visit us.

Please join us in wishing Cheryl all the best for her retirement and make sure you take the time to say goodbye and make her feel as appreciated as she deserves.

Once again due to cold the weather overnight Please take extra caution when making your way into Nursery this morning, it has extremely cold and some roads have not been prepared and black ice is present on some roads ❄️

Whilst every effort to had been made to prepare the Car Park there may still be some areas that are slippy. Please be mindful of other vehicles and give plenty of space for other customers to manoeuvre within the car park. Customers on foot, we ask that you use the designated walkway on the ramp.

Are you a Level 3 qualified Early Years Practitioner looking for a role that fits around school hours?

Wise Owl Nursery & Pre-School is looking for a caring, enthusiastic, and reliable Early Years Practitioner to support children during lunchtime in a safe, positive, and nurturing environment. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working with children and wants consistent daytime hours.

🧸 The Role
You will:

Support and supervise children during lunchtime

Encourage positive behaviour, good manners, and social interaction

Ensure children’s safety and wellbeing at all times

Assist with setting up and clearing the dining area

Provide cover and support during staff lunch breaks

Work closely with the nursery team to maintain a consistent, caring approach

✅ What We’re Looking For
Level 3 Childcare qualification (essential)

Experience in an early years or childcare setting

A warm, calm, and approachable manner

Knowledge of safeguarding and health & safety

A flexible and supportive team-player attitude

🕒 Hours: 36 hours per week

✨ What you’ll be doing:
🧸 Providing high-quality care for children aged 0–5
🎨 Supporting learning through play, creativity, and exploration
📚 Working in line with the EYFS framework
🤝 Building strong relationships with children, parents, and colleagues
🏡 Helping maintain a safe, warm, and welcoming environment

✅ What we’re looking for:
• Level 3 Early Years qualification (or equivalent)
• A genuine love for working with young children
• Knowledge of EYFS and safeguarding
• A positive, caring, and flexible attitude
