For World Bee Day we explored bees through lots of hands-on sensory play and creativity. 🐝💛

The children investigated real flowers, carefully pulling petals apart and talking about colours, textures and how bees collect pollen from flowers. They used the petals to create their own “bees,” encouraging imagination and independent creativity.

This activity supported several areas of the EYFS including:

• Understanding the World – learning about bees, flowers and nature and why bees are important for our environment.
• Expressive Arts and Design – using natural materials creatively to make their own bee creations.
• Communication and Language – talking about what they could see, feel and make during the activity.
• Physical Development – developing fine motor skills through picking, pulling and sticking petals.
• Personal, Social and Emotional Development – working alongside friends, sharing resources and taking pride in their creations.

The children especially loved exploring the bright yellow petals and learning how bees help flowers grow. 🌼🐝
