⚠️ WARNING ⚠️
🚨 SCAM ALERT 🚨
If you're still buying a driving test from a third party, please read this carefully. There are several ways scammers and dishonest resellers are operating:
*1. Fake test dates to create panic and inflate prices**
Scammers post large numbers of fake test dates in WhatsApp groups and other forums. These dates often don't exist. When you contact them, they'll tell you the dates have "just sold out." This is designed to create a false sense of scarcity, making you feel you need to act quickly and pay inflated prices.
Once you agree to a date, they'll ask for your personal details, including your driving licence information and sometimes your bank card details. Because you think test slots are so limited, many people provide this information without questioning it.
In some cases, after booking a genuine test, they send you a confirmation reference number. However, just days or weeks before your test, they may change the booking and sell that same slot to someone else without your knowledge.
I spoke to a driving examiner today (30/06/2026), who said there have been several occasions where two candidates have arrived expecting to take the same test slot.
*2. Taking payment and disappearing*
This is a straightforward scam.
The scammer advertises fake test dates, agrees a price, then asks you to pay before sending any confirmation. Once you've transferred the money, they block you and disappear.
*3. *Misusing your driving licence details**
Some resellers ask for your driving licence details in advance, claiming their "bot" will automatically book you the next available test.
Instead, they may use your licence details to temporarily hold multiple test appointments, which they then sell to other people before eventually booking one for you.
Although you may receive a genuine DVSA confirmation number, repeated use of your licence details over a short period will attract attention. If the booking is identified as suspicious or in breach of DVSA rules, your test will be cancelled and you will lose the money you've paid. DO NOT SEND YOUR LICENCE PICTURE OR YOUR BANK CARD DETAILS.
Only a few weeks ago, I heard of a candidate who was reportedly arrested on the day of their driving test after obtaining a test through a third party.
*4. Resellers are using BOTS to capture dates**
The DVSA uses an AI system to detect if a test has been booked by a BOT. They will cancel your test, ban you from booking a test online, and will trigger an investigation. By then, the resellers has already made their money. It's YOU that loses out.
**Stay safe*
Using an unauthorised third party to obtain a driving test can carry significant risks. Even if someone appears to be a legitimate reseller, there's no guarantee your booking is secure, It could be resold or picked up by DVSA as fraudulent. You WILL lose your money, have your test cancelled, or become involved in an investigation if fraudulent activity is suspected.
If you all stop buying from these resellers, they have no choice but to release those slots back into the system, which you all can get for just £62.
The safest option is to book directly through the dvsa.gov.uk
