The children in Reception class have had a busy afternoon today in their PE lesson. They have used the story Rosie’s Walk to balance on one leg and move in different ways such as climbing up and down, travelling over and under and through equipment. The children really enjoyed continuing to develop their gross motor skills in a fun and practical way. 🐔 🐓 🦊

Preschool have continued to be super learners this week when learning about forces. We can push and pull to make things move away from us or bring them closer to us. We explored magnetic force and had fun finding objects around our classroom that attract to the magnets. In phonics we have done some super segmenting and blending, we have also been looking at the shape of our mouths when we say phonemes. We have played lots of maths games to consolidate our understanding of subitising. In literacy we have been thinking about what a question is, what a question mark looks like and what questions we might want to ask a Police officer.

The children have really enjoyed exploring and learning within the provision this week. It’s been a busy week so far from writing about their half term independently, to looking at the story Farmer Duck in drawing club, to looking at sharing amounts equally in maths and also looking at and identifying odd and even numbers, to drawing farm animals in art and listening carefully to identity the different farm animal sounds in our science learning.

Wonderful! Congratulations again to Jake, Mazey-Grace and Jessica 🌟🌟🌟
We have recently unveiled a real masterpiece at our new Pendle Police Station! 👩🎨
Crafty Year 6 pupils from schools across Nelson, Colne and Barnoldswick rose to the 🖌️ paint-brush challenge, creating a colourful mural that’s now taking pride of place at the front counter.
Our competition theme was ‘draw yourself as a police officer’ and 20 young artists showed they’ve got an eye for keeping things safe 🌟 and stylish🌟 across East Lancashire!
Thanks to Lanpac Ltd each budding artist received a certificate and a well-deserved reward 💙
A big well done to all involved….it really is picture perfect 🤌

Today in PE we have been doing dance and our theme has been robots. The children had to think how the robots moved and then had to create a dance pattern in pairs. Creating their own robot dance. Well done Year 1.
