A fantastic day out for our Old Library group from Barnoldswick School! 🎣🌾
Our students had an amazing time visiting Cornfields Fishing, enjoying the fresh air, learning new skills, and showing great patience and teamwork by the water. From first catches to big smiles, it was a day full of memorable moments!
We’re so proud of everyone who took part – what a brilliant trip! 👏

Today our school proudly took part in a UK Youth Parliament election giving students the opportunity to experience the democratic process first-hand.
Polling stations were set up around the school and students cast their votes using a real ballot box, just like in a national election. It was fantastic to see so many young people engaging with their right to vote and having their voices heard.
This activity brought British Values to life by promoting democracy, respect, and participation in society. Experiences like this help our students understand how decisions are made and encourage them to become active, responsible citizens in the future.
A big thank you to everyone who helped organise the polling stations and to all students who took part in voting today. Your voice matters! 🇬🇧🗳️

🐠✨ Our School Fish Tank Has Arrived! ✨🐠
We’re so excited to share that our new school fish tank is now set up in The Old Library building here in Barnoldswick 🏫💙
The photos show the young people proudly bringing their new fish back from Pets at Home, and they were absolutely thrilled! 🐟🛍️ It was such a lovely experience for them to choose the fish and learn more about how to care for them.
The tank is already bringing a calm, happy atmosphere to the space, and the children are so excited to take responsibility for feeding and looking after their new aquatic friends 🌊✨

‘Lest We Forget’ Our pupils have thoroughly enjoyed learning about Remembrance Day over the past week.
Pupils have engaged with designing, creating and displaying their own, collective, Remembrance display for the front of school. Some pupils attended today’s public service and honoured the 2 minutes silence, whilst other pupils engaged with a National Assembly and honoured the 2 minutes silence silence in school.
Pupils have enjoyed visiting the cenotaph with our therapy dogs, looking for family names and learning about the War.
We are proud at The Old Library to have pupils whose aspirations are to join our armed forces, as well as have previous pupils who are currently serving!

🛒 Real-Life Maths in Action – with a bit of Sneaky Teaching!
Recently, our pupils took part in a fun and interactive lesson focused on budgeting, teamwork, and value for money—a perfect example of our sneaky teaching approach, where learning happens through engagement, not enforcement.
Given a shopping list, pupils worked together to:
Compare products based on price and weight
Calculate totals to check if they were within budget
Decide whether Co-op offered the best overall value for the items
This hands-on activity not only strengthened practical maths skills, but also encouraged collaboration, critical thinking, and real-world problem-solving—all wrapped in purposeful enjoyment.
Great effort from everyone involved!
