So proud of our children. Ezra in Year 6 and Eleanor who has since moved on to Teesdale but popped back for this lovely photo opportunity. Well done to you both.

Our environment essay competition, aimed at Year 5 and 6 Teesdale pupils, on the topic of climate change, attracted 55 entries of such a high standard that the judging panel needed extra time to reach its decision!
Today, certificates and prizes were awarded to competition winner Johnjo and highly commended William G from Barnard Castle School and to competition runner-up Ezra and highly commended Eleanor from Green Lane Green Lane Church of England Primary School.
Thanks to the staff from both schools and to our thoughtful judges - Alan Formby-Jackson Teesdale Mercury, Jo Middleton of UTASS and Kerryanne Higgens North Pennines National Landscape - without whom the competition would not have been possible.

Mr Noah and The Ark - A musical retelling of the ancient story

I am delighted to invite you all to a special musical based on the story of Noah and The Ark. It is going to be performed by members of the St Mary's Parish Church Community Music group. With music written by our very own Annette Lowson, who comes in every week teaching the children to sing, and with lyrics written by her very talented husband Geoff, a familiar face in school with the help he gives on Prayer Space Day.

The performance is completely free in church on Sunday 4 October at 4pm. I have heard a sneak preview and it is amazing, worthy of a BAFTA. Hope to see you there.

GOLDEN ATTENDANCE AWARDS!
This year we want to see your children in school every single day, loving to learn and learning to love as our new vision states! To reward the children who are in each and every day of a month they will receive a special certificate. I am attaching a copy of it for you to see, please show it to your children to get them excited. Every school day is vital to a pupil's learning, as you all know, and just a few days missed can lead to some big gaps in learning, so anything you can do to encourage your children to come in each day would be so beneficial. The children who earn the most certificates over the year will receive a special end of term gift!

XMAS FAYRE SCAMS.
We have been made aware that scam posts have been put on Facebook about Christmas Fayres being held at Green Lane. Events held at Green Lane will be advertised through our own page so please be vigilant and check with the school directly if you are unsure.

Last week we celebrated our EYFS children who took part in a Graduation Ceremony to mark the end of their first year with us here at Green Lane. We are confident they are ready for Year One with Mrs Bell. They have all blossomed over the past year and they did a lovely performance for their parents followed by a pic-nic in the sunshine. Well done everyone. Your are our superstars!! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

On Friday we bid a very fond farewell to our lovely Mrs Scarre. She popped into school to see the children and we presented her with some flowers and a little gift. Mrs Scarre has been a key part of our school for almost ten years. We will miss you Mrs Scarre xx

As a special surprise treat our Friends of School organised an ice-cream van and all the children had an ice-cream in the sunshine after a busy day of Water Fights and Leavers Assemblies. What a lovely end to the week.
