National Year of Reading- Be Inspired!

What a wonderful opportunity for some of our reading champions at St Mary's!
We will be selecting some of our children to go along and meet Jacqueline Wilson, find out more about her new book 'Esme Pepper'and to talk about why reading really does matter!
I will be asking staff to look out for children who make a pledge to read more at home and at school from KS2 and also those who encourage others to read too.📕💚
If your child is selected you will receive a message from school with further details closer to the date ( 6th Oct) Exciting!

This term we start our new RE curriculum called 'The Way'. It is a progressive curriculum based upon scripture Across school, children are exploring branch one, 'Creation and Covenant.'
It was a pleasure going in to see Swifts as part of my learning walk today, seeing the children engrossed in their learning, discussing, reflecting and understanding the story in greater depth.
The children also handled our brand new Bibles with such respect- recognising that this is our very special, holy book.
Can they tell you where to find the Creation story in the Bible?

Congratulations to the children who received a prize as winners at Bowes Show this year. We received a lovely card thanking the children of St Mary's for their participation and support. The children said that they had a brilliant day and look forward to entering again next year too.
Special thank you to Miss North for storing and taking the entries to the show during the holidays and also to the Bowes show committee.

Carmel College Y6 Open Evening

A visit from PC Preet!
PC Preet visited school today to introduce himself to the children, talk about his role within the community and how he is able to help us keep safe.
Some of our nursery children even got a chance to try on his police hat and jacket! Maybe they will be a police officer when they grow up too.
We are very lucky to have police officers, willing to come along to school as part of our local and school community.
