🐑PARENT TOURS - RECEPTION 2027 INTAKE🌈
Reception 2027 (born between 1st September 2022 to 31st August 2023)

Primary school applications will be open from 18th November 2026 and close on 15th January 2027. It can be accessed via the Calderdale Admissions Website.

We are inviting parents/carers whose children are due to start school in September 2027 to have a look around our school. Tours will be conducted during the school day by the Headteacher so that parents/carers can see the school in action on a typical busy working day. We pride ourselves on tailoring our tours to the needs of our prospective families and therefore will show you around in small groups and limited places will be available for each tour.

Please expect each tour to take up to an hour so that a real insight can be gained into life at Barkisland CE VA Primary school. We would also strongly recommend that children do not attend these tours.

🐑 LITTLE LAMBS - NURSERY APPLICATIONS 🌈
If your child is turning 3 they are able to join Barkisland Little Lambs Nursery after Christmas. Applications are now being accepted and can be found on our website or call in and collect an application form from the School Office! ✨

Starting nursery school is one of the most important milestones in a child’s life and it is important that the right provision is chosen for your child. If your child is due to start nursery school, appointments can be made through the School Office to meet with our Unit Managers and have a tour of our Early Years setting.

🪈 RECORDER CLUB 🪈
This week the Barkisland Children enjoyed a visit from a local recorder ensemble. To get the workshop started, we enjoyed a variety of different pieces. We then learnt the names of lots of different recorders and heard the sounds of these instruments through the use of a round.

💧YEAR 5 🌊

Year 5 had a visit from Canal & River Trust . They had great discussions about canals, how they worked and what they were used for. We even did some role play where we had an engineer in charge of all of the navvies.

🏭 Year 3 Linking Project - Industrial Museum ⚙️
Year 3 are enjoying their Schools Linking Network. They recently visited Calderdale Industrial Museum! They started with ice-breaker games, thinking about visible and invisible similarities and differences.

Group A enjoyed their first activity with their partners from New Road. Their task was to identify the properties of 20 mystery objects in 20 different bags. Are they rigid? Squishy? Light? Heavy? This activity requires good communication and listening. 🗣️

We look forward to meeting with New Road again soon!
