Today at The Old Barn Day Nursery & Forest School, the Pre School children took part in a special fire activity during their forest school session. Over the past few weeks, the children have been learning important fire safety rules to help them feel confident and prepared. One key rule they practised was to not walk inside the fire circle when the red rope is on the ground, helping everyone stay safe.

During the activity, the children took turns wearing the fire safety gloves so they could carefully hold the grill plates and toast their own bread over the fire. They listened well, followed the safety routines, and showed great responsibility.

The session ended with happy faces as the children enjoyed eating the warm toast they had cooked themselves for their snack. It was a wonderful opportunity for them to build confidence, independence, and respect for fire safety in the forest school environment.

✨️Introducing our new baby room! Chayse and the team have worked together over the last month to pull together a new space for our babies to explore and enjoy. Having the focus of our minds being a home from home feel to the setting so children feel comfortable and confident within the nursery. Putting each child's individual routine at the centre of what we do. We have incorporated sensory spaces for the children to enjoy, a safe sleeping area, main learning space and a suitable meal time space. The building has been open for 2 weeks and it has been nothing but success. Happy Children = happy staff and happy families. This building is run by a team of practitioners that focus and specialise in baby practice. Chayse, the Deputy Manager holds years of experience within the sector looking after babies therefore she trains her team to focus solely on the importance of caring for children under the age of 2. To book a guided tour with the manager then please ring 01737 373715 and speak with Laura or Amber. ✨️

This week in the baby room at The Old Barn Day Nursery and Pre-Prep, we have been exploring activities based around different scenes of one of our core books, 'It's a little baby'. The babies participated in nature painting, using leaves and flowers to create different marks and patterns as well as animal printing with animals based from a scene in the book. The babies thoroughly enjoyed exploring these painting activities which has promoted single words such as "stomp", "leaf" and "boo", all words relating to the activities and the book itself. Throughout the week, we have successful supported all areas of development and learning.

Staff member Louise, of the baby room. Created her first display board adding props to support the intention, show casing the babies creations and linking this to the EYFS. πŸ‘ΆπŸΎ

Over the last couple weeks at The Old Barn Pre -Prep the children have been learning about the Pantosaurus, through songs, stories and posters which has taught the children the importance of keeping safe. Georgia, Amber and Chloe have been speaking to the children about the understanding of our bodies belonging to us. Alongside this the children have also been exploring toilet rules and hygiene, learning how to wipe properly, wash hands throughly, and respect others privacy when using the toilet.

The Pre -Prep team are so proud of how confident and thoughtful the children have been while learning these important skills and remembering the Pantosaurus rules. πŸ¦•πŸ¦–πŸš»

Over the last couple of weeks the preschool children have been learning and exploring the life cycle of a butterfly. Georgia and Chloe have both been supporting the children in looking after and learning the skills of taking care of living things. They have extended this through the core book of the very hungry caterpillar and the children have been providing a range of healthy fruits and vegetables for the caterpillars to munch on. They are now in their cocoons and the children come in enthusiastic everyday to see if they have hatched. Watch this space for the photos of the butterflies. πŸ› πŸ¦‹
