🌍✨ And that’s a wrap on our Summer Camps! ✨🌍

We finished an incredibly busy summer at Bangor Brainiacs with our Around the World Week – travelling across continents without ever needing to pack a suitcase! 🧳🌎

Our explorers got stuck into everything from building and erupting our very own Mt Etna πŸŒ‹ and constructing the Leaning Tower of Pisa, to discovering Greek myths, Ancient Egypt, Japanese culture, Australian wildlife and the art and animals of Africa.

There was plenty of creativity along the way too, with clay hieroglyphics, origami, papier-mΓ’chΓ©, engineering challenges, art, crafts and lots of hands-on learning. πŸŽ¨πŸ›οΈπŸ—Ύ

It has been wonderful seeing the children learning, creating, experimenting, making new friends and, most importantly, having fun together.

A huge thank you to every family who trusted us with their children this summer and to all of the brilliant young people who joined us across our different camp weeks. πŸ’™

After a very busy summer, we’re now getting Bangor Brainiacs ready for the new academic year – and we can’t quite believe how quickly it has come around! πŸ“šβœοΈ

What a lovely way to end GCSE Results Day! πŸŽ‰πŸ“š

We’ve had so many messages today from students and parents sharing some absolutely fantastic results, and we couldn’t be prouder. πŸ’œπŸ’š

These are just a few of the messages we’ve received. We’ve also been sent photos and screenshots of students’ actual results pages showing some brilliant achievements β€” we won’t be sharing those publicly for privacy reasons, but we have loved seeing every single one!

Of course, results day isn’t only about the letters and numbers on the page. Behind every grade is a young person who has put in hours of work, overcome challenges, kept going when things were difficult and, in many cases, grown enormously in confidence along the way.

A huge CONGRATULATIONS to all of our Bangor Brainiacs students receiving results today. Whether you achieved the grade you were hoping for, exceeded your expectations, or have decided that a resit is the right next step, you should be incredibly proud of getting to this point. 🌟

And thank you to our families for trusting us to be a small part of your children’s journeys. Messages like these really do make all the hard work worthwhile. πŸ’œ

Well done, Brainiacs! πŸ§ πŸŒ³πŸŽ“

GCSE RESULTS ARE IN… WHAT COMES NEXT? πŸŽ“

Whether today brought the results you hoped for β€” or not quite β€” the next step matters.

πŸ”„ Planning a GCSE Resit?

A disappointing grade doesn't have to be the end of the story. We can help students identify the gaps, rebuild confidence and prepare properly for their next attempt.

πŸ“š Starting Year 12?

Don't wait until the weeks before the exams to discover where the gaps are.

Our GCSE tuition can provide structured support throughout Year 12, helping students strengthen subject knowledge, practise exam technique and stay on top of their course.

🏑 Homeschool & EBSA Support – September Availability

As we prepare for the new academic year, we’re looking forward to welcoming many of our returning homeschool and EBSA families back to Bangor Brainiacs, while also opening a limited number of daytime spaces to new families. πŸ’šπŸ’œ

From September, Andrea Hanna will have availability Monday–Wednesday, 11am–3pm, for children and young people who would benefit from learning outside of a traditional school environment.

Sessions can be tailored to the individual learner and may include:

πŸ“š English & Maths support
✏️ Curriculum-based learning
🧠 Catch-up and confidence building
🎯 Individual learning goals
🌱 Gentle re-engagement with education
🏑 Support for homeschool and EBSA learners
πŸ’œ A calm, small-scale and supportive learning environment

We understand that for some children, simply getting through the doors and feeling comfortable with learning again can be an achievement in itself. Sessions can therefore be adapted around each student's ability, interests, confidence and current relationship with education, rather than taking a one-size-fits-all approach.

New families are very welcome, and we're happy to discuss what support might work best for your child before arranging their first session.

πŸ“§ [email protected] to enquire about September availability.

A LITTLE PIECE OF OUR BUILDING'S HISTORY...

One of the things we've loved since making Lady Mairi Bury House, 20 Hamilton Road the home of Bangor Brainiacs is discovering more about the history hidden within the building and its grounds.

For many years, the building was home to the British Red Cross, and former volunteer Isobell Wilsdon OBE recalled a very special feature created in the garden:

β€œWe had a raised garden with water feature for the visually impaired. Some of the workmen volunteered time and made a patio with a large red cross on it.”

When we began clearing the overgrown area at the back of the building, we discovered that the Red Cross patio she described is still there. ❀️

Although this area now also forms part of our drive, we have deliberately retained the Red Cross and some of the original flower beds as a little piece of Lady Mairi Bury House's history.

Over the coming year, we'd love to power-clean and restore the patio, regenerate the flower beds and bring some life back to this special outdoor space, while preserving the features left behind by those who cared for the building before us. 🌱

We think there's something particularly fitting about the history of our new home. Lady Mairi Bury House was once a place where volunteers came together to support people within their community.

Today its purpose may be different, but we hope to continue that spirit β€” creating a place where children, young people and families can feel supported, learn, grow and thrive.

We're very proud to be writing the next chapter in the story of Lady Mairi Bury House β€” while making sure we don't forget the chapters that came before us. πŸŒ³πŸ’œπŸ’š

β˜€οΈ WHAT HAPPENS BEHIND THE SCENES AT BANGOR BRAINIACS OVER THE SUMMER? 🍎

You might think the summer holidays mean things get a little quieter at a tuition centre...

They don't. πŸ˜‚

While many of our wonderful teachers have been enjoying a very well-deserved summer break, there's been a huge amount happening behind the scenes as we prepare Bangor Brainiacs for our second academic year β€” and our biggest one yet!

Over the final few weeks of summer, Andrea is:

🌍 Running our final summer camp of 2026 β€” Around the World!

πŸ“š Gathering, packing and dispatching our SEAG Skills Handbooks

πŸ—“οΈ Finalising our teachers' September timetables and getting hundreds of weekly tuition places organised

πŸ‘©β€πŸ« Speaking with additional qualified teachers interested in joining Bangor Brainiacs and helping us expand the subjects we can offer

πŸŽ“ Working with the Education Authority and local schools regarding individual alternative learning provision for children who may need something different from a traditional school setting

🏑 Getting back in touch with our home-education and daytime-learning families as we develop our daytime provision

πŸŽ‰ Preparing for our 1-Year Anniversary Open Day on August 22nd β€” we can't quite believe it's nearly a year already!

πŸ’³ Onboarding our new monthly subscription payment system to make securing and managing regular tuition places much simpler as we grow

πŸ’» Updating our website with our expanding range of tuition, learning support and programmes

🏫 Setting up and equipping our third-floor classrooms ready for September

πŸ“Š Supporting families as A-Level and GCSE results arrive, discussing results, resits and what comes next

..all while answering enquiries, allocating students to classes, preparing resources and getting the building ready to welcome everyone back! πŸ’œπŸ’š

When Bangor Brainiacs opened its doors just under a year ago, we could never have imagined quite how quickly it would grow.

What started as a small tuition centre is gradually developing into something much broader: a place for academic tuition, exam preparation, alternative and daytime learning, home-education support, SEN-inclusive education, enrichment activities and specialist teaching β€” all under one roof.

There's a lot happening behind our purple door this August. πŸ’œπŸ’š

And we can't wait to show you what we've been working on when the new academic year begins.
