We're exploring new ways Bangor Brainiacs could support families across Northern Ireland.
While many people know us for after-school tuition, we work with home-school and ABSA students during the school day. We are also increasingly hearing from families who need support with flexi-schooling, or materials to use at home.
This could include:
π Live online lessons taught by qualified teachers
π₯ Recorded lessons students can access at any time
π Learning support for EBSA students and young people unable to attend school full-time
π Curriculum-aligned learning materials for Northern Ireland students
π GCSE and A-Level preparation using CCEA specifications
Before we develop anything further, we'd love to hear from parents.
If this is something your family would find helpful, tell us:
1οΈβ£ What age are your children?
2οΈβ£ Would you prefer live lessons, recorded lessons, or both?
3οΈβ£ Which subjects would you most like support with?
4οΈβ£ Would you be interested in daytime learning opportunities?
We're always looking for ways to make high-quality education more accessible for families across Northern Ireland.

At Bangor Brainiacs, we have always believed that parents deserve complete confidence in the people supporting their children's education.
That's why we are pleased to announce that we are currently arranging membership with The Tutors' Association, the UK's professional body for tutors and tuition businesses.
Many parents are surprised to learn that tutoring in the UK is an unregulated industry. Unlike schools, there is no requirement for tutors to belong to a professional body or engage in ongoing professional development. While many good tutors do so voluntarily, standards can vary considerably across the sector.
At Bangor Brainiacs, we believe that safeguarding, professionalism and quality should never be left to chance.
Membership of The Tutors' Association supports our commitment to:
β
Enhanced background checks
β
Robust safeguarding procedures
β
Ongoing professional development and training
β
Ethical and transparent business practices
β
Continuous improvement in the quality of tuition we provide
Our tutors already hold Enhanced AccessNI checks through their work in Northern Ireland schools. However, we believe that maintaining high standards is not something that is done onceβit is something that requires continual reflection, training and professional accountability.
Whether a student attends us for GCSEs, A-Levels, transfer preparation, literacy support or confidence building, parents can be assured that Bangor Brainiacs is committed to providing a safe, professional and supportive learning environment.
We look forward to continuing to invest in the highest standards for the children and young people of Bangor and beyond.

π Please join us in welcoming Orla to Bangor Brainiacs! π
We are delighted to announce that Orla Stevenson has joined our growing team of tutors.
As Bangor Brainiacs continues to expand to meet demand from local families, we are committed to bringing in talented educators who share our passion for supporting young people and helping them achieve their goals. We are excited to have Orla on board and look forward to the positive impact she will make with our students.
Also, a fun fact...one of our other new tutors, Michelle Pierce, was Orla's A-Level Maths teacher at Glenlola! It's always great when one teacher inspires a former student to join the profession!
We know many families will have the opportunity to work with Orla over the coming months, and we are thrilled to have her as part of the Bangor Brainiacs community. ππ³

π A quick reminder for families...
We are delighted by the number of enquiries and bookings coming in for our Summer Camps, Summer Transition Classes, and September Tuition Programme. Thank you for choosing Bangor Brainiacs! π
As many sessions are now beginning to fill, we would just like to gently remind parents that a place cannot be held or guaranteed until payment has been received and your child has been added to our register.
Unfortunately, due to demand, we may need to offer unconfirmed places to other families if payment has not been received.
If you have received booking information and would like to secure your child's place, we would encourage you to complete payment as soon as possible to avoid disappointment.
Thank you for your continued support of our small local businessβwe can't wait to welcome everyone this summer! π³β¨

As Bangor Brainiacs has grown over the past year, we've been reminded of something important:
No local business succeeds on its own.
Behind every lesson, summer camp, youth club, parent meeting and tutoring session is a network of local businesses who have supported us along the way.
From helping us with signage, workwear, accounting, legal advice, maintenance, marketing, moving, technology and everything in between, we've been fortunate to work with some fantastic people and businesses right here in our local community.
A huge thank you to:
π‘ Bangor Signage, Print & Embroidery
π‘ The Workwear Place
π‘ Marks One Stop Handyman Services
π‘ Bangor Chamber of Commerce
π‘ DK Electrical Solutions LTD
π‘ O'Boyle Accounting & Taxation Ltd
π‘ Wilson Nesbitt (Solicitors)
π‘ Starr Removals & Storage
π‘ Sav Cattura
Every time local businesses choose to support one another, it helps strengthen the community we all share.
We're grateful for every bit of advice, expertise and encouragement we've received as Bangor Brainiacs continues to grow.
If we've forgotten anyone, please give them a shout-out in the comments below!

As we approach the end of another school year, many of you will soon be reading reports, looking at grades, and reflecting on the year your children have had.
But some of the most important achievements never appear on a report...
π Maybe they became more confident.
π Maybe they made new friends.
π Maybe they overcame anxiety.
π Maybe they showed resilience after a setback.
π Maybe they simply kept going when things felt difficult.
So we'd love to hear from you...
What are some things your children achieved this year that won't appear on their school report?
Share it in the comments below and let's celebrate the successes that numbers and grades can't measure. π

π Is your child really ready for September Maths?
One of the biggest misconceptions parents have is that a student can simply "catch up later" in Maths. Unfortunately, Maths doesn't work that way.
Maths is like a staircase. Every topic builds on the one before it.
If your child struggled with fractions, percentages, algebra, negative numbers or problem-solving this year, those same skills will appear again next year... but in a more difficult form.
By the time students reach GCSE, many are not struggling with GCSE Maths itself β they're struggling because they have gaps from Year 8, Year 9 or Year 10 that were never fully addressed.
That's why we're running our Summer Maths Consolidation Classes at Bangor Brainiacs.
β
Identify and strengthen weak areas from the previous year
β
Build confidence before September
β
Small-group support from experienced teachers
β
Get ahead of new topics before they appear in school
β
Prevent small gaps becoming major obstacles later
π
Mondays throughout July & August 2026

πΉ Year 8 β Year 9: 6pmβ7pm
πΉ Year 9 β Year 10: 7pmβ8pm

A small investment over the summer can make a huge difference to confidence, attainment and progress when September arrives.

π An exciting proposal for Bangor...
We're happy to share that Bangor Brainiacs has submitted an application to explore the possibility of bringing Shakespeare in the Park to Bangor.
If approved, this would most likely become a Summer 2027 community event series, allowing plenty of time to recruit performers, work with local schools and youth organisations, train volunteers, secure funding, and rehearse productions to a high standard.
This isn't something we'd want to rush. We'd want to create an event that Bangor could genuinely be proud of β one that celebrates literature, theatre, public speaking, creativity and community spirit.
We're under no illusion that projects like this require a huge amount of work, but we're willing to put in that effort if the community would like to see it happen.
So we'd love to hear your thoughts:
π Would you attend?
π Would you volunteer?
π Would your organisation like to be involved?
π What Shakespeare play would you most like to see performed?
