Dechrau'r Hydref (lì qiū)
“Dechrau'r Hydref” yw'r 13eg tymor solar yn y calendr lleuadol traddodiadol Tsieineaidd, ac mae fel arfer yn dechrau tua 7 Awst bob blwyddyn. Mae'n nodi dechrau'r hydref, a’r newid o'r haf poeth i dymor oerach yr hydref. Yn ystod y cyfnod hwn, mae'r tymheredd yn dechrau oeri’n raddol, ac mae'r tywydd yn dod yn fwy dymunol. Yn amaethyddol, mae'n gyfnod arwyddocaol i ffermwyr wrth iddynt baratoi ar gyfer cynhaeaf yr hydref ac addasu eu harferion amaethu. Yn y diwylliant Tsieineaidd, mae “Dechrau'r Hydref” yn aml yn gysylltiedig ag arferion a thraddodiadau amrywiol, megis gwneud offrymau i gyndeidiau a gweddïo am gynhaeaf ffrwythlon.

Last week, we said a fond farewell to our wonderful Mandarin tutors as they returned to China. 🇨🇳✈️

We hope they enjoyed their time with us at Bangor University and will take home many happy memories of the friendships, experiences and special moments they shared with our students, schools and local community.

We are incredibly grateful for their enthusiasm, dedication and contribution to the work of the Bangor Confucius Institute. They will be greatly missed, and we wish them every happiness and success in the future.

In Chinese culture, Major Heat with diverse customs and traditions, encompassing cleaning rituals, pest control measures, and ceremonies honouring ancestors, all aimed at ushering in good fortune and blessings.

Minor Heat is the 11th solar term in the traditional Chinese lunar calendar and usually falls around July 7th or 8th each year. It marks the official beginning of summer, marking a significant shift in the season. During this period, temperatures rise steadily, indicating the onset of warmer weather. In Chinese tradition, Minor Heat is infused with cultural significance, intertwined with various customs and festivities, including preparations for the Dragon Boat Festival and regional ceremonies to invoke blessings and good fortune.
