As an international educator and tutor, my mission is to support and inspire young people to lose themselves in English Language and Literature.

But you don’t have to travel to be transported..

Hello. If this year hasn’t been easy, this is for you. “One day you’ll look back and realise how hard it was, and just how well you did.”

When incredible tales collide to create something wonderful. 💙 My equal love for the tragedy of Shakespeare’s Hamlet and Carol Ann Duffy’s love soaked sonnet Anne Hathaway brought me naturally to this. Maggie O’Farrell’s beautifully imagined Hamnet tells the tale of how the death of Shakespeare’s son spurred the creation of one of his most loved plays. An interwoven tale of love, sorrow and grief. Just beautiful.

So delighted to receive an early xmas read courtesy of my dear friend 🤗. A wonderful collection of short stories written by Northern Irish writers encompassing a range of genres, all linked to the theme of 🎄. Pulling together a wealth of talent from the place I call home is made even more special by the fact that all proceeds of this collection go to local charities. Christmas has started early this year! 🎄🎁💚

We remember by listening to the voices, real or imagined, of those who were there.
We remember through engaging and empathising with their experiences and considering the great hardship and sacrifices made by individuals, their families and communities.
We remember through teaching our children to engage with their connected past or the past of others through story, memoir, poetry and song.
We remember through engaging in difficult conversations and arming ourselves with the tools needed to build relationships and resolve conflicts so that the world can be a better place.

Books I loved as a child!
I lived for Christmas and this annual back in the day! 🖤 I may well have synthesised (ripped off) every plot line for every creative writing project in primary school off the back of this gem. Ah Misty! Thanks for the introduction to gothic horror: locked chambers and girls that got trapped in paintings hanging on the walls of mysterious mansions! 🖼 🧟‍♀️💁‍♀️ Gothic horror to the hilt 70s stylee!

This wonderful book was published exactly 70 years ago today! I think I can safely say that as a child of 11, this book changed my imaginative life forever 💚. Also very proud that this writer hailed from East Belfast. Thank you C.S Lewis for making the ordinary extraordinary with your wondrous wardrobe to another world!
