Torphins Playgroup Pre-school Torphins Playgroup Pre-school provides a fun, warm & inclusive early years learning environment.

Torphins Playgroup Preschool provides a safe, unique early years learning environment in Aberdeenshire for children from the age of two until they attend primary school. Torphins Playgroup Preschool is committed to child-led learning through play. We follow the Scottish National Curriculums, the Curriculum for Excellence, the Pre-birth to Three Curriculum, Realising The Ambition: Being Me, as well

as the Getting It Right For Every Child (GIRFEC) framework. Parents are integral to Playgroup - running the charity as a committee, leading the playgroup in everything from hiring staff to policy making, and volunteering in the setting itself. The Committee fundraises from a wide variety of sources including grants, trusts and foundations as well as public events and online appeals. As well as this, parents are offered the opportunity to become involved as volunteers, helping within the setting itself. This is a unique opportunity to really see how your children learn and take a role in their early years’ education. No other childcare facility in our local area provides this combination of benefits. We are a genuine preschool that gives children the freedom to learn and experience the world through play in a caring, safe environment, guiding them while they develop through the early years curriculum, all with the close involvement of their care-givers and families.

Torphins Playgroup Cookbook

Our cookbook is nearly ready for printing 🥳

We are making a final call for your favourite recipes to be put in our book - these can be soups, hearty meals or fine pieces.
Also a final call to any local businesses who would like to support us by taking a space to advertise your business.
Half an A5 advert will cost £10 and a full A5 £20. Please send all recipes and adverts via email to [email protected]

We will have the recipe books printed and ready to purchase in time for Christmas 🎄

We hope you've all had a lovely summer break and were looking forward to welcoming everyone back to Torphins Playgroup!

We're so excited to see all our returning children and families, and to welcome our new children and families who are joining us!

We would like to invite all parents, carers, and members of our local community to attend the Torphins Playgroup Annual General Meeting (AGM).
📅 Date: Monday 29th June
🕡 Time: 6:30pm
📍 Location: Torphins Playgroup
For anyone unable to attend in person, a Microsoft Teams link will be available so you can join online.
This year's AGM will be particularly important as we will be saying thank you and farewell to our current Chairperson, Iwona Ottenbreit, and Vice Chair, Carol Robertson, who are stepping down from their committee roles. We are incredibly grateful for their dedication, hard work, and commitment to supporting the playgroup over the years.
As part of the AGM, we will be electing and appointing new committee members. The committee plays a vital role in ensuring the continued success of Torphins Playgroup, and we would love to welcome new faces who are interested in helping to support our wonderful setting.
Whether you are a current parent, former parent, grandparent, or community member with an interest in early years education, we would be delighted to see you there.
