A massive shout out to our Warriner Plus students who got their GCSE results today! Regardless of result, you showed up and you sat those tests!

That makes me proud as a mentor, a teacher, a confidant, the nagging voice in your head 24/7 leading up to the exams but most importantly as someone who has watched you, regardless of previous schooling, mistakes or issues, rock up and give it a shot and that’s all I asked!

Mainstream isn’t for everyone and I am full of confidence that when I no doubt bump into you in a couple of years you will be a success in whatever path you choose!

Go smash it!

End of year statement from Mr Burton.

Where to begin!! A selection of the latest and funniest photos from the year is always a good way to end (sorry kids 😂).

What a first year as an official alternative provision this has been, a roaring success is an understatement!

Thank you so much to everyone who has made this possible, from our outstanding teachers and intervention specialists, our incredible student support workers, our brokering schools, there are just too many people to thank this year for and without each and everyone of you we would not have been able to change so many young lives for the better!

But my biggest thank you goes out to the students, my “work kids” who have stressed me out more than I ever thought possible, made me laugh until I cry and amaze me everyday about just how blooming awesome they can be! I’m proud of you my little band of merry misfits, those that have come and gone and those I look forward to working with next year!

Here’s to 26-27! Bring it on!!!

This week we have:

Had specialised literacy and communication interventions ✅
Started a copper business ✅
Finished our rock metal collage ✅
Completed an English escape room ✅
Used maths to enlarge pictures ✅
Did some therapeutic colouring ✅
Gave the W+ “pork chop” a clean ✅
Went for a wellbeing walk with Kendall the dog ✅
Played some pool ✅
Tested our punctuation knowledge in English ✅
Built an indoor RC car track because of the rain ✅
Used our imagination to create stories in Oracy ✅
Had our first S*x Ed lesson ✅
Learned to make dinner ✅
Built a new RC car ✅
Played the piano ✅
Used blocks to build bridges in maths ✅
Played some football and basketball ✅
Did boxing therapy in the garden ✅
Used our knowledge from a Savage science to make our own molecular models ✅

Made and decorated cookies (thank you Freya!) ✅
Practised traditional karate techniques ✅
Learnt about resistance in science ✅
Used English skills to produce a persuasive writing piece ✅
Created a heavy metal collage ✅
Had specialist communication and interaction sessions ✅
Savage science outside with fire!🔥✅
Set up our new classroom ✅
Created art using paints ✅
Fixed a generator ✅
Developed our maths skills using algebra ✅
Attempted to teach Mr Burton the guitar (he sucked😂) ✅
More tailored specialist literacy interventions ✅
Imploded cans and learned about forces in science ✅
Explored pressure to explode a watermelon ✅
Devoured said watermelon like cavemen 😂✅
Made said cave man look ever so pretty ✅
Learnt about wattle and daub building techniques to build a hut ✅

Made bouncy balls and slime in science ✅
Made an almighty mess in the name of science 😂✅
Used maths to work out impact using rc cars ✅
Learned about ratios ✅
Played card games in the sun ✅
Researched cocoons and made our student one ✅
Revised for upcoming GCSE exams ✅
Created a drum kit and enjoyed some music therapy ✅
Used our skills to make some kindling for primary school forest schools ✅
Experimented with ph scales ✅
Used our learned knowledge to make a “super acid” ✅
Had specialist literacy interventions ✅
Got creative with some fake tattoos ✅
Played some pool at Fast Eddies Banbury ✅
Visited Weird Creatures and had a lesson on reptiles ✅

Savage science with more non Newtonian fluid ✅
Explored density and mixture of cells ✅
Environmental science on the farm ✅
Timed wheelbarrow races in maths ✅
Built some jumps in the garden to measure speed vs distance ✅
Cleaned our bikes after servicing them ✅
Made slime ✅
Invited a youth worker to play football ✅
Created some “about us posters” ✅
Watched our new classroom be delivered ✅
Market trading with inflation in maths ✅
Sorted out items for our new classroom ✅

With the big surge in referrals this term we have welcomed Mr Bryan to our team! Mr Bryan has a wealth of teaching experience and brings a whole new take on how we do things!

Tested electricity through different metals ✅
Evaluated poetry through rap in English ✅
Used fruit to charge phones✅
Went for wellbeing walks in the sun ✅
Learned about spawning season in the garden ✅
Carried out specialised intervention sessions ✅
Started work on the soapbox ✅
Tested our rolling chassis and made adjustments ✅
Measured distance in maths with paper airplanes ✅
Learned about velocity, speed and friction ✅
